I know this has been hinted at in many other threads but I want everyone's opinion. We all know that there are many free agents that will be available and several of them would, assumingly, be great fits on our team. Sometimes we get upset at the front office for failing to acquire a particular player, but what we shouldn't forget is that said player has to WANT to come to New Orleans. Obviously, money probably is the number one motivating factor, but the organization and the ability to win is perhaps a close second.

How does one be convinced to come here to play?? I definitely wouldn't want a player here that doesn't want to be here (and lets that fact manifest itself in the player's performance) so breaking the bank to lure players here is highly unwise IMO. Winning is the answer and we have to get back to it. As long as we're winning, they'll be lining up to come here. Everybody wants to be associated with a winner.

So fans, please don't get upset if your targeted player doesn't sign here. It's more complicated in reality than it is on Madden.

I hear what your saying and thats why I always thought Building your team up through the draft was the best way to go when you want to get better, we have Evans, Colston, Smith, Goodwin, Faine and Nesbit to bring back, so we probably wont target but one or two players (not fringe players) so I suggested on another post that we get a guy l like Corey Williams (GB Packers) as our FA#1 target and then get Rivers at Linebacker with the 10th pick and from there on draft defensive help at Corner, Linebacker (again) and DT (again)

There's no secret that our defense is bad, so most "name" defensive free agents that are interested in coming here know that they have a chance to start on a team that has a Super Bowl quality offense allready in place.

That was even more so the case last offseason, yet still guys like Roderick Hood chose to go elsewhere for the same money!?!?

Nice try... they'll still blame Loomis.. but I 1000% agree with you. I also feel that building thru the draft should be the way to go (Meily). :9:

players have there reasons for picking the teams they go to, the Saints arent the only team players may not wanna play for, you gotta look at Buffalo, Detroit,Oakland....Saints fans have low self esteem, we think a player just doesnt want to come to the N.O. because its the N.O....but they dont wanna go to other teams to, you gotta sell you team, no different than recruiting in college football....even thought the name sometimes sells its self.
