I kept it real because there is no way that this team is going to pay out Clements type money and personally I don't want them to. Get some solid players who want to play football and not so much for the badge of highest paid. Look at all the contracts that these people sign and then what? They do squat after. Case in point a certain member of our team got 60 million plus and how many sacks? Sure Corey Williams and Marcus Trufant will demand some money but I don't think they will break the bank. If we do well in FA then I would love to see us draft some defense in the draft but I know with Sean hes looking offense first. Anyways just thought I would offer my 2 cents, I'm bored, flame away.

Corey Williams may depend if the packers think that Justin Harell can be ready to start and then allow Williams to leave, althought 3 good tackles are very important for rotation.

Kelly can play inside and out. He is dominant but often injured. Not sure how the raiders will feel to sign him to a high contract, and how much of a risk he is for another team based in his injury file.

Gay to me is not much of an improvement of what we have, and coming from the pats may command a higher salary than he deserves, and Trufant I think will be franchised.

The 3 linebackers are reliable but not stars, all are important to their teams and I think they would not command a big salary and teams would like to retain them. If one of these 3 change teams, I expect to happen until after the draft. No need to rush for their teams or other teams to try to sign them.

i still have visions of brown moving to RT, so i wouldn't mind seeing max starks from the steelers signed... he's young, huge, with big upside... at OG, floyd womack from seattle might be worth a look.. not as good (expensive either) as faneca, but younger and has potential

I agree, I think for the price of one player, you can get 2 (Williams and Boley) and that most of these free agents will be franchised (Boley included) I really don't think that filling our needs will be done in free agency, teams don't let there talent hit the open marketand the one's that do, do because there asking for money there current team just won't pay them....

Build this team through the draft, depending on free agent help isn't always the way to go, slim pickings.

It always happens that a good player gets a huge contract after playing well in the Superbowl. In this case it can be Kawika MItchell. The guy is big and can play both at the weakside and the middle.

He mostly played the middle in Kansas City where he was a reliable, but not spectacular player. Kansas left him go and the Giants signed him for a year.

Because of his size, reliability and versatility, he can turn into a hot commodity in March. I wonder if the Giants would let him go instead of overpaying for his services. I am sure one NFL team will pay him more than they would before yesterday's game.

I would LOVE Corey Williams... I really think he has the tools to be a dominant DT, and he has shown flashes in his young career of just that. With that said, I'm not going to hold my breath waiting to see him in the black and gold.

Tommy Kelly is interesting though, and he may come at a discount because of his injury riddled past.

DeMorrio Williams stinks IMHO, he's better than Shanle but he still stinks... what does that tell you?

Watching Gay and Samuels, who had very good games, last night made me realize I don't want them at all.

Almost every play they were playing a zone. You rarely saw them jam anyone or have to cover anyone off the line. The Majority of the time they'd fly in from above the reciever to break a pass up or make a tackle. That screams zone and we don't run that successfully.

^You know...

Man coverage isn't the be all, end all of all coverages.
We are not even all that good at it.

It's good to be versatile.
Problem is we don't have much versatility in the secondary..
Makes QBs actually have to think what coverage we are playing.
And if you get in his face enough, good things usually can happen.

If all we do is play one type of coverage even if we excelled in it, someone is going to find holes in it given time. A good team that knows how to prepare a QB can beat any type of coverage, really. Especially ones that show the same damn thing over and over week in and week out.
