No it’s because it’s not actually a thing. Is that cause we buried over the cap?
This is my worry too. We get this guy and he ends up getting us to 8-9 max with the coaching talent we have now. If we get him, please Saints brass, get the guy some decent offensive coaches.
could be a conditional pick based on playing time and achievementsCarr has some leverage in this with his no trade clause. He'll be able to pick his team and the Raiders will have to either accept the compensation offered or decide to keep him. If he decides on the Saints, they shouldn't offer more than a 5th or 6th rounder to the Raiders to take his contract off their hands.
I mean, Carr has thrown more garbage time yards per season than Jameis since 2017 but it's neither here or there. What I'm saying is this perceived upgrade is more about perception than folks really want to admitYou’re taking that last statement out of context. Carr had built up a strong resume. McDaniels came in and stuff fell apart.
Jameis didn’t have a similar resume for success. As I already stated. The numbers were one thing. But the context of the numbers matters. Was the team behind? What did the system emphasize? For example, Jameis didn’t have eye-popping numbers last year. But imo, it was his best season because our weapons weren’t good and he did what was necessary to win games.
Anyway…from a Saints (and a Saints fan) perspective, there really is no Jameis vs Carr. Because Jameis isn’t going to be here.
If you would take Dalton over Carr, then you should probably get your head checked. If you willing to roll with Dalton bc of money, then you should probably get your head checked as well. Carr is a clear upgrade. Dalton is barely serviceable at this point in his careerI'm not sure Carr wins us 3 more games last year. I do think his best football is better than Andy's best but Carr may not be worth the contract difference. If he cost 25M more than Dalton, then I might sign Dalton and draft a QB.

That’s not what the stats say.If you would take Dalton over Carr, then you should probably get your head checked. If you willing to roll with Dalton bc of money, then you should probably get your head checked as well. Carr is a clear upgrade. Dalton is barely serviceable at this point in his career
You doubt it? The Bucs should have finished the season 11-5 and with the 5th seed and that's with 29 interceptions in regulationI doubt it. Interceptions will make a defense look bad. Not only due to lack of rest, but also because they often have to defend short fields. Also turnovers is the most important stat correlated with wins.
Top 10 is debatable. Guys I’d definitely put ahead of him:
Mahomes
Burrow
Hurts
Allen
Herbert
Jackson
Lawrence
Rodgers (if he plays)
Maybe:
Cousins
Tua (health)
Dak
Kyler (health)
Daniel Jones
Goff
That’s 8 definites and 6 maybes.
I’d probably say around 11-12. But a case could be made for anywhere between 9 and 15.
Show me a top tier QB that is available that we can afford.I just don’t see a top tier guy when I watch Carr. Not even close.
The highest rated rookie at 29 will be a dart throw at best. I’d bet good money that Carr outplays them. We’d have to trade up to have a legit chance to have a rookie franchise QB, but the cost would likely be our next years 1stGive me the highest graded available rookie over Carr. Carr has no upside and will command top dollar. I’m official off the Carr bandwagon
Top 10 in what?
So if one game sample size means nothing, why is Carr an upgrade when both Jameis and Dalton have a career QBR higher than him?
"A player who lost this job to Andy Dalton?" Come on man, both you know and I know that has more to do with DA than any skill or performance. And while we are on that.
Upgrade though?
