YouTube Sunday Ticket Pricing (Update - pricing announced) (1 Viewer)

The TV blackout rules have been gone for about a decade now.

I think there’s two different kinds of blackout - there’s the one based on stadium ticket sales that have indeed been gone since 2014/2015.

But there’s also the “blackout” rule that requires that only the local market game can be shown in that market. I think that’s what is being referred to - though I’m not sure how the NFL would get rid of that, it’s the basis for all of these premium out of market services, and it’s also built-in to the contracts with the broadcasters.

I don't believe that exists anymore either. There have been many times where when a Saints game is on, I'd flip to the other game during commercials.

The only time I believe this rule gets applied is when the local game is a late game and is on the station that has double-header rights for that afternoon.

The broadcast rules are that one of the two Sunday networks gets the double-header and the other gets a single game. In any given market, the local game will always be one of those three games, so yes, if the other network has a game at that time, you can switch to the other game.

What I'm talking about is the market blackout rule that says the local game must be shown and can only be available through the network. For example, you can't watch the local game on the Sunday Ticket, you have to go to the network. Similarly, if you're on a streaming service like Verizon, you can only watch the local game.

It's called a "regional blackout".

I’d buy this for $200-$250. At $349, I will figure out another solution. It’s also cheaper to go to a bar for lunch (not a drinker) than have home service.

It's $249 if you do the pre-order.

There are steps you can do to avoid paying for Sunday Ticket if you use YouTube TV.

I think it’s reasonable, works out to $15/game to make sure I can catch all 17 Saints games live. I also have way more faith in YTTV to have a better stream than what Amazon did for TNF.

I hate to pay for that plus $10/mo for NFL+, but I like the condensed replays and all-22 film on NFL+.

Only if you are an existing YouTube subscriber.

I’ve been a YoutubeTV subscriber for awhile now, I definitely prefer it over the longer terms and yearly renegotiation with the normal providers when the teaser rates expire.

I have to feel like YouTube is going control that - they certainly have the ability to control it and they paid $2 BILLION for Sunday Ticket. If getting around it is as simple as a few instructions on google and a VPN, it's going to be a significant drag on their investment return.

I’ve been an antenna only user until Covid. Netflix and HBOMax often go unwatched for 1-2 months per year. Cable/YouTube would be a waste for me.

The pricing is $21/regular season game for non-subscribers with early access. I’ll stream most games and catch a few at one of the DC area bars for Saints fans.
