This is about the 2008 Republican Primary. Not that I can stop anyone, but please refrain from voting in this poll if you couldn't see yourself voting for any of the options. This doesn't mean you have to self-identify as a Republican, or that you even would vote for say Huckabee over Clinton if those are your options, just that you might at least strongly consider voting for Huckabee (or McCain or whoever).

2008 Republican Primary
1) John McCain

2) Mike Huckabee

3) Ron Paul

4) A right leaning third party. Just as it says, you don't want either Huckabee, Paul, or McCain but want to vote "right". This would be say Constitution Party or the Libertarian ticket.

Notice there is no "None of the above" option, because if you would choose "None of the above" your opinion is irrelevant for the purpose of this poll.

Well, McCain appears to be the guy, so it really comes down to whether Republicans will vote for him or stay home. I'm certain, despite their protestations, that extreme right wingers like Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh actually would not vote for Obama or the Hildebeast. I would guess they simply wouldn't vote if they couldn't bring themselves to pull the lever for McCain, which is his biggest obstacle at this point: inspiring the right wing of the Republican Party to support him.
As an independent, I'll take him 10 times out of 10 over the Hildebeast, and at this point, I'll take him over Obama as well. I don't agree with everything McCain stands for, but then I don't know a single politician with whom I can say I agree on everything.
I disagree with more things in the cases of the Hildebeast and Obama than I do with McCain, so the choice is simple enough.

Republicans need love too

no they don't, havn't you heard, they are cold harted, lieing, cheating, corrupt ******** that want to kill children, old people, pollute the world and melt the ice caps in the presuit of the New World Order and the all might dollar.

Jesus loves you.

I honestly don't see what people see in McCain. What is it about him, will someone please enlighten me? Is it because of the competition around him being so bad or do people actually like him?

People talk about Ron Pauls honesty and so-called integrity. I look him up and do a little research and the guy has been pretty consistent. I don't agree with everything he says though by a long shot but atleast he is consistent and sticks to his guns.

McCain gets the same bag for straight-foward honesty and integrity. Everytime I turn on the T.V. they refer to him as the "Maverick". I've researched up on McCain and he doesn't seem to be as honest as the media portrays him to be.

IMO if McCain gets the Repub ticket he will get raped by either Obama or Hillary just like he was raped by Bush in 2000. I find it funny that the opposing Repubs haven't pulled out all their ammo to fire on McCain the guy is not that clean. In fact there is probably more you can pin on him than all the other repubs running.

I plan to vote for Paul when the Indiana primary comes around but it may be over by then. If the Republican mess is over by then I may vote for my choice of Democrat. Not 100% on who that may be but I have it narrowed down to two.

In my own opinion, i think a lot of people are just tired of the long primary process, they want to pick a winner and have it win now. Kinda like BluRay and HD DVD. No body wants a long protracted battle, and the first sign of a leader, everyone wants to jump on the winner background. Course there is always the anybody but hillary factor.

I guess the only question i have for republicans is why are so willing to nominate McCain now, when they were not willing to do so in 2000?

Doesn't even take a Republican to answer that one.

I voted for McCain in 2000 and then voted for Ralph Nader when McCain didn't get the nomination.

So Bandwagoners come in all shapes, sizes, and political affiliations?

Wow, what made you go from McCain to Nader?

Nader was a protest vote. I was real unhappy with Bush/Gore but I was 18 and it was my first election, it felt like I should vote for someone.

I can say with a certain amount of pride i've never voted for George Bush.

I voted for Bush twice, he wasnt't what i really wanted but i looked at the alternative and hopped for the best. So my position is now that I will not longer settle for the lesser of two evils.I won't vote for anyone just because the other guy is worse. All that does to me is to continue to lead a party in the wrong the direction.
