That 1080p tv you just bought is about to become obsolete (1 Viewer)

don't care. I'll be happy with 1080i or a long time to come.

Not going to what a lot people in the 90's did, and buy a new computer everytime a processor increased by 50 mHz
 
Everything you buy is about to become obsolete. It's called capitalism :p.
 
I doubt 1080p is going to be obsolete for a long time. There isn't any kind of media that can be used for those resolutions and no one is even broadcasting in 1080p as it is. Maybe in another 10 to 15 years something will happen.
 
Isn't there some resolution beyond which the human eye can't discern any more clarity? Is a 2160p screen really any better than 1080p?

I think that it's 4320. There are 4k displays but they are not being mass produced. I'm pretty sure that the human threshold is why they stopped at 4320.
