If you are Cuban would you pass on Kidd to keep Harris?

the deal also contains Stackhouse and Bass

"Sources say Dallas is resigned to the fact that it won't be able to reacquire Kidd -- 1994-95's co-Rookie of the Year with Grant Hill as a Mav but who left town in acrimonious circumstances less than two seasons later -- without parting with Harris, who's a fan and Mark Cuban favorite as well as a 24-year-old point guard having by far his best season.

If I was Dallas, I wouldn't touch a thing. The asking price seems a bit steep for a guy who, as good as he is, is past his prime and a bit of a malcontent.

Dallas is still at the top of the Western Conference. They were in the Finals two years ago and were the victims of a Warriors team that played out of their minds last year (and just about anybody would have lost that series).

Plus the Hornets have it tough enough -- they don't need another guy like that to deal with four (or more) times a year.

good point regarding Kidd's "attitude" though he has always played for a lesser team than the Mavs now, this would be his best team - and i can say with almost 100% certainty that when he was in Dallas it wasnt him who was causing the trouble, he just got the blame - his reasons for wanting to leave werent completely due to the loosing.

but if your a team like the Mavs, would you make this deal if it could go along way in getting youre first championship? - Harris is getting better, but if Kidd can give you a a few years a new PG can be found and then play under JK - Harris IMO is not the answer long term at PG for the Mavs - Brandon Bass, would hate to see him go, Same with Stack but we do have the bench to make up for it, and could add another player possibly.

the draft picks are tough considering they arent defined - the cash is nothing

the Mavs seem better this year, but the west overall is better.

The Mavs may be thinking that Moe Ager and/or Barrea could tutor under Kidd to take over the PG position in a couple years. Losing Stackhouse and Bass is not something I'm fond of, especially Stackhouse. My concern with relying on the bench is that guys like Eddie Jones and Devean George have been hurt most of this season. George was hurt a lot last season too, so I don't think you can really count on him.

i agree about Bass, i would hate to loose him - stack i could live with, he will be the lone hot guy in some games but does get injured some.

but with Kidd this team would really be fun to watch, especially against the suns

last night was the Mavs without Harris and Stack - so +Kidd -Bass and thats what you would basically have.

That seems a bit steep for a 35 year old.

Jason Kidd is a Hall of Famer who is still a top 3 PG. The Mavs are giving away a bunch of role players. The Nets are gonna regret this when Richard Jefferson and Vince Carter stop playing completely.

Not really. If all holds true, then the Nets will buyout Stack's contract; allowing him to resign with Dallas if he waits 30 days and takes no offers from other teams. Now, he could most certainly do that, but he's been injured and hammies are a tough injury. He would probably play limited minutes wherever he goes. My sincere hope is he returns to Dallas.

I don't follow basketball much, but when trades occur I do read on them. What's the deal with teams trading #1 picks like they aren't anything. Not only are they trading one of them, but multiple #1 picks. As much as we need a cb, if the Saints traded 2 1st for say someone like Champ Bailey, I'd be a little uneasy about it.

I don't know the best answer to your question, but it could be that because the most value in the NBA draft is near the top(probably Top15-20). Since the Mavs don't plan on being a lottery team, they can continue to play the Free Agency game and not draft anyone.

cuban seems to be saying he doesnt want to give up Harris, says he is a top 5 PG - i dont see that at all - i thught the mavs were better this year but now it seems they have regressed - i dont think they are as good as they were the last couple of years.

i would do the Kidd deal - this current roster wont go far in the playoffs IMO

and i read on the DMN that D. George wants out of dallas
