well not an official report, but something that made me wonder, they did a draft portion on the NFC South and they said that the Saints #1 priority is Cornerback (which I can see) but then went on to say that who the Saints are really hoping for is Sedrick Ellis, he said that he thinks that, thats who we are hoping for and would be the BPA if he fell to us...but Corner was are supposed "need" postion for the #10 spot.

CB is the #1 need, you just don't pass on a Sedrick Ellis.

I saw the segment and agree that Ellis would be the most ideal pick at @10. Well, Ellis or Dorsey. You really can't go wrong with either.

The more and more I see of Kentwan Balmer, the more and more I am not impressed. He does not move well and that is not because he is such a large body. I do think he'll go high and I could see Denver snatching him up. I actually think Carolina might look to address their offensive line needs. But if the Panthers took Balmer, I would not lose a bit of sleep as Balmer just doesn't do anything that makes you go "wow!"

Harvey to Tampa would be interesting but I do not see him lasting to Tampa's pick. I actually think Mario Manningham could end up a Buc if he is on the board.

I dont think we should pick CB they will get picked on there rookie year we need someone out FA who has a few years under he's belt. A LB or DT can come in and play right away

Who said that??!

Regardless of who said it or the "inside information" they may have had, it's sounds reasonable to me. It's no big secret that the Saints (and many other teams) covet shut down corners and great defensive linemen. Of course, from here to draft day news changes all predictions.

Well if CB is our #1 concern, then we should expect the Saints to sign a CB in FA for certain. Maybe the CB position will be the "big splash" instead of a DT or LB etc.

Hopefully it's Trufant.

Uh?.....if your a NFL Corner, chances are there gonna throw the ball at you and sometimes you may actually get picked on....I'm starting to think if we cant get Dorsey or Ellis (side not; I'm thinking we might be able to get Dorsey, that knee injury could push him to 10, this is the time a year where they pick you apart and players slide)....but if we cant get either of them, then I think Corner should be the position we draft in the first round, I think we can get a good linebacking prospect in the 2nd round and get our young DT in the 3rd.

Mel Kiper says the same thing about us needing a CB tops. I'd agree, but we have a lot of needs, so we can take BPA and still fill a need. The thing is, no CB is really solid. McKelvin seems to be the consensus #1, but he's pretty boring. 5'10, 190 lbs, runs a 4.45 40. He would have trouble facing off against the bigger WRs out there, but seems to be a pretty safe pick. I'd be more inclined to gamble on greatness and take DRC. At least then we'd have a potential gamebreaker with potential for greatness and honestly, how low could this guy's floor be? At the very least, he should be a good corner. If nobody like Ellis, Dorsey or Gholston fall to us or McFadden to give us a bargaining chip to trade down, I'd go with the potential of DRC. Let's face it, as a rookie, neither of them are going to make a world of difference; look 3 years down the road and figure out who's got the best chance to make an impact.

Don't kid yourself. Dorsey won't be there at 10, neither will Ellis.

If Baltimore is on the board and the Saints only have 1 more defensive guy they want to bank on as being the man, then they have to trade up over Cincy. Otherwise, stick with the picks we have do some serious digging for untapped talent in the lower rounds.

Sounds so easy... doesn't it :hihi:
