Just a thought,But it would be nice to have a backup that can be trusted to do the right thing. Someone who can be pluged in incase of injury to Drew(heaven forbid). At 6ft 5in. 250 lbs. plus a 5 yr. vet I don't think it 's much of a risk.Any thoughts? And 52tds to 32 ints is not that bad.:dunno:

why waste a spot on a guy like aaron brooks that almost cost his head coach his job, he just barely got rid of him in time, unlike haslett, lets develop the future after brees is gone, we have the coach to do it.

I think after being cut by the fatcans,He maybe hardup to play.It wouldnt hurt to have a look at him.

I'd love to have him. He's 1,000 times better than anyone else we have at backup.

At the risk of being "that guy", I'd love to see Leftwich in a Saints uniform. I have always like the guy's "intangibles" and know for a fact that he rubbed Del Rio the wrong way in Jacksonville, leading to his eventual departure. He's a good QB who needs a little direction and Payton is known as a guy who can give QB's direction.

Also, it's an upgrade over Jamie Martin.

Still, he's going to look for starter money. Maybe at the end of Training Camp if he hasn't signed with anyone, his price will drop and he could find his way here.

If the price is right, I'd take Leftwich in a heart beat over Jamie Martin. He was picking us a part in the Atlanta game before he was injured.

Not sure he'd want to sign as a backup at this point in his career - He's still young.

He'll probably want to go somewhere where he'd have a chance to start - That's not N.O.

Nonetheless, it would be great to have a QB like Leftwich ready to play, should - God forbid - something happened to Drew.

i dont think he would be a good idea because he would live on his back with the oline here. he is too slow with his release and he is not a smart qb we need smart qbs in our system and jaimie martin and tyler palko are perfect enough for that role.
