My contract with cingular/att is expiring in a couple of months and I need a new phone pretty bad. I haven't really kept up on all the phones that are out but I would like to get a nice one. What are the best ones out now? How is the iphone? I heard bad stuff about it. The motoQ or something like that? Blackberry curve and 8820?

Need suggestions so I can research. Thanks.

well what do you want to do with it. would you want a yacht to go bass fishing in the shallows? you want apps on it to do accounting and bluetooth and wifi?

bop that is a little too new wave.

like said, depends what you want to do with it.. you want customization and do about anything with it. tilt, 8525 if you can find one, you want good signal and all you do is use the phone for talking. get a basic nokia phone they have the most wattage on the antenna.
you want slick, iphone is that.
I do like my tilt though.
using for work, and need to get your work email on it, most companies support blackberry, tilt will work, if the company will let you.
I wouldnt' get a blackberry unless it was for work messaging.

I want it to be able to handle pretty much everything. I def. want a pda phone witha good internet browser. I hear that blackberries internet browser is pretty much lame.

I do want it to be able to handle different apps. I just basically want the best overall phone out there.

if all you care is internet, get iphone, if you want all the diff apps, and download a wazoo of crap and customize. tilt with an micro sd card..
pocket ie on it, but you can download opera, opera is a trial for ppc though, so it has to be bought.
haven't tried others.. but tons of software for the wm device and lots coming out.

tip, micro sd card you can get really cheap at microcenter.

it's cool with the tilt and the live search, just center on gps, and search you can get the 25 closest whatever you're looking for like restaraunts, types of restaraunts. gas prices,
then give directions there.
most of time when you put in the location if the place has a website, it will link to it, and all links to number, you can call right from there.
you tube, well you have to download a free media player, and plugin as it doesn't work with the windows media player on the tilt.
all sorts of mobile apps for it though.

htc touch on sprint. best phone out there that isnt an iphone, way less money.

I have an iphone. It is currently laying on a the floor waiting for me to put it in a box to send to Apple to be repaired. The battery went dead and now it wont power back on after a full night's charge. When it did turn on the battery sucked, the reception sucked and the speakers aren't loud enough to hear a simple conversation unless you use a headset.

The phone is governed down so much because Apple is still trying to figure out how to make more money on it by using 3rd party applications so half the stuff I bought it for I still can't do. Great concept but Apple came up very short.

I had the old 8125 from Cingular and absolutely hated it. The touch screen thing seemed like a good idea but dialing a freaking number was impossible without pulling out the little stylus and using to hands. Handy feature for being on the road or traveling. I will tell everyone that a touch screen phone is a bad idea.
I just upgraded to the Moto Q Global and love it so far. Great keyboard, great dialing system, windows OS so I can actually use it to work while on the road, great sound. The internet thing is a bit over rated on most phones, it is slow unless you pay a lot extra. I decided that I would try one more PDA phone and then go back to the flip phones and I think I will stick with this one.

I have the first generation Samsung Black Jack, and am pretty fond of it. Have it since late Sept, and have had no major issues with it. The web browsing it acceptable for a phone, syncs up with my work email, can set up multiple email address to get delivered if you like. Allows you to read, but not edit Office documents. They just released the 2nd generation which I haven't touched yet, but know some friends who have them and like them.

My wife and I got the Blackjack phones (not the new ones that just came out) and we love em. I just boughta 1gig miniSD card so I'm going to use it as an mp3 player when I work out instead of spending a couple $100 on an mp3 player.

My sister just went through picking out PDA's for her company. One night she brought home the new tilt, the motorola (the Q I think) new blackberry and the new blackjack and the pantech duo (cheap feeling). I didn't like the size or feel of the motorola at all. The blackberry wasn't that great either - but you do have the rolling ball mouse type thing to move around the screen. The blackjack had the best feel to me.

They all ran windows mobile (she had to rule out the blackberry because of their type of email service) She chose the tilt for herself because it also had the touch screen

I would wait for the second generation of iPhones to come out before signing any contract. The HTC phones are very nice feature-wise, but bulky. The Blackberry Pearl has turned out to be a pretty nice phone as has the Blackjack, but you might want a bigger screen.

Don't buy a Motorola. I'd go Blackberry Pearl, I love mine.
