AL Wilson (1 Viewer)

if I remeber correctly he sat out most of the year for some injury, that itself should raise a huge red flag.

He sat out the entire year. He isn't even in the league at this point.

The year before that he posted 101 tackles, the year before that 72. I don't see the big deal with this guy.

Al Wi;son, truthfully, is not that good. He benefited from a good D coordinator (no with GB) and lots of talent around him. His injuries are a big concern too.

he was a beast that last year with denver, but i will say it again.

if he was cut by denver and sat the entire year without any team showing interest, that has got to raise a red flag. tackles does not show that he is a good player..

No, but LB is the one position where tackles are actually pretty valid. I'd say its a pretty good bearing of how well he found the ball and flowed with plays.

i disagree, tackles are great for a LB, but how do you know they werent 7-15 yards down the field? why was a yearly probowler cut from such a good defensive system? injurys as you should know can change a persons life. some recover, some dont.

Because Safties typically make those tackles 7-15 yards down the field. Great LB's have alot of tackles. Unlike Safety or CB where less tackles are better, or DE where tackles don't show how much he pressured the QB etc. If a LB has over 100 tackles its almost certain he was at least a good player at the position. It is the only position where tackles are even a valid stat IMO.

Why was he cut? Chances are money reasons, and the fact that he was about to miss an entire season with injury. I don't know specifics on him, but I'm speculating. Chances are his contract was why he was cut. Thats usually why any player who was productive is just cut.

I don't care about this guy. I think its another Anthony Simmons type deal where we would be betting on him coming back after missing an entire year and then him having the work ethic to stick with it. Does this guy even wanta play anymore? Maybe thats why noone is looking at him. Maybe he is just done. I'd like to hear more from someone who knows.

i still disagree with you about the tackles situation, but im not going to sit here and have a long drawn out argument with you about it. imo theres much more to a LB than how many tackles he had.

Wilson sat out because of a bad neck injury that needed time to heal. He is now healthy and can play according to the doctors. My hing is why would you not bring him in to at least talk if
1. Denver obviously missed him this season.
2. Dan Morgen is not better then him trust me Morgan is a wimp. Never played a full season in his career
3. I like Zach but he is really old and can not have to much left at this point. Can he?

if he just needed time, wouldn't it make more sense to just put him on IR? if denver truly missed him that much, why would they give him a chance to sign with another team?

Thats true. Wilson is only 30 years old. What are the specifics of his injury and what kind of complications could arise?

Here is some news about his contract. His signing bonus was only 10 million, and his contract was worth 42 million total. I can't find anything more specific, but its possible his 4th year, he was due a large portion of his contract and they opted to cut him instead of paying him to sit on the IR for a year. Its also worth looking up the Bronco's salary cap specifics. He may of been cut because of cap reasons and the fact that he wasn't going to play for a year.

Its very likely it was a contract problem like Zach Thomas. Yeah Thomas is old, but theres noway the Dolphins cut him if he isn't due 6 million this next year.

How hungry is Wilson to come back to the NFL?

Take a look at Anthony Simmons' tenure with the Saints. He sat out a season with an injury, then came back into the league, then decided that retired life was better.
