I am listening to the ESPN radio on sirius and I believe I just heard that Zach Thomas was offered a contract by the Saints after completing a physical. Is this possible? If so I like the fact that the Saints after early morning people :) Sorry for not hearing it clearly enough but it was one of those fast paced news updates they do every 30mins or so.

Thanks for the info....

"Zach welcome to New Orleans...will you sign this contract please?!?"

:hihi:

I don't think they have conducted anything with him yet. He is visiting the Saints today and unless they managed to get the physical over and wow him and go thro the usual speel beforer 8:00 am CTS, well i'll just say we move fast.

I think what you probably heard was Zach Thomas was offered a contract yesterday by the Patriots, and will be visiting the New Orleans Saints today. Just probably worded a little different, enough to trick you.

Unless we did offer him, in which case, Niceeee

Well I'm about to have to attend class but I'll try and catch the update next time it's aired again to let you guys know. Stupid internet edition doesn't have replay :(

Oh my bad it is the NFL Radio. I just started listening yesterday and while I was in the truck yesterday I found about 3 ESPN stations and the NFL radio one. So I got them mixed up, but yes the "NFL Radio" is the correct station.

Ok they just did another news break and didn't say anything other than he was meeting with them today. So lets keep those fingers crossed.

Cool, yeah it was that the Pats offered him a contract and that he was visiting the Saints today.

The guys yesterday on NFL Radio said that if he leaves NE then we have a chance and since he did leave there without signing a contract then we have a chance at signing him, but that we shouldn't let him leave. If it's only a money thing then we should fork over the few extra bucks just to get him to stay.

He has a contract offer from the Patriots. I expect he'll get one from the Saints before he leaves. Then ZT will have contracts on the table from the Pats and Saints, not a bad situation to be in if you're him. And he has a few more visits to make. I seriously doubt his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, would let him sign a contract before making all the visits. Hopefully Sean Payton, Drew Brees, and Scott Fujita can pitch him on what a good fit he'd be with the Saints. But I expect him to head to Dallas with an offer but not signed......

Well, I would like to think that the Patriots didn't offer him the money he was wanting banking on the whole "almost" undefeated season and that they could give him a big win to slide into his aging career. I know he recently mentioned that money wasn't a big thing he was looking at when negotiating, but come on, that's bull crap. Money has to be in the top two things you look at that makes a difference.

How do you get to ESPN through Sirius? I click on sports and all I get is NFL Radio?

You can't access ESPN Radio via the Sirius internet feed, you have to have a receiver. But as everyone else figured out, the report was about Thomas receiving an offer from the Pats and he is visiting us today.

To the OP - you might want to edit the title of this thread since you "misremembered" what you heard on the radio. The Mods here kind of frown on "shock posts" about possibly signing FAs.....

The Patriots made him a great offer.
