Just curious, if we could pick up only one of these guys, who would you choose?

Lance Briggs

Reasoning: We need Defense! I think he will come cheaper than the top corners. LBs seem to be able to make the smoothest transition to other systems. I think he would come in start at either MLB or WLB and have 150 tackles in this defense. The draft seems to have alot more suitable corners than it does LBs.

EDIT: I voted for Nnamdi in the poll but I know he won't be there (will get franchised tomorrow). Thus why I voted for one and talked about another in my post.

I chose Asante Samuel because we need help most with our secondary. We have HT, Brian Young, and Kendrick that is signed to a good deal for DT.(which everyone seems to forget)
Out of all the choices this would be best because of others getting franchised tagged or wanting to much money for recent slow play.

I voted Corey Williams because I think that a better pass rush will improve the entire defense, while Lance Briggs may not be as affective without guys like Brian Urlacher and Tommie Harris around him.

Good reasoning, can't fault that at all. I would be happy with him too. (OR anyone on that list for that matter)

Observation could be true on Briggs, Urlacher has always been a good MLB but I think he got better with Briggs next to him. Also I have seen Briggs play alot without Tommie Harris (was injured) and he still did pretty good. Not to worried about Briggs just being a product of the system. But it is a concern albeit not a large one for me, but its underlying)

Yeah, we really can't go wrong with any of them. I'm just praying we can come out of FA with at least one impact player for our defense.

I would respectfully disagree with this. I believe that the draft is stronger with linebackers who can come in an contribute right away as rookies. Rookie CBs, even the great ones need a season or two to develop in the NFL, with a few exceptions. I would prefer a veteran CB, and draft LB high.

Well you have me with the contribution part. LBers always have the best production early in thier careers. SO I will not even try and debate that. But I think the players at corner this year are better than the LBers. If 58 and 33 came out this year different story. But I like the corners more in this draft than I like the top of the LBer class. Actually I like the middle of the LBer class than I like the top. I think Keith Rivers is a good player, I think Ali Highsmight is a good player, Dan Connor is a good player. But there isn't anything flashy about any of them to me. I like the middle of the class with Jarred mayo and Curtis Loften more for this team. I like the Corners, Mike Jenkins is a good corner, Aqib Talib is a good corner, DRC is a good corner, Anton Cason is a good corner, and thier is also a good middle class with Brandon Flowers, and Patrick Lee. ALso they only way to get good corners at a reasonable price is to draft them, and usually eariler than later. You will see a LBer drafted late this year produce in the NFL somewhere. You don't need to spend the pick as early, talent can be had later. Although a stud LBer would be nice. (i.e. Briggs who I think was drafted in the 4th)

LOL, its funny tho, cause I am with ya I would rather a corner in FA too, I voted for Nnamdi, I just know he will be franchised. But just sheding some light why Briggs would be 2a. Briggs over those other Corners, and I am still holding out hope for Sedrick Ellis or Glenn Dorsey in the draft, tho unlikely.

The more I think about it, Corey Williams would probably be my 2a. Its harder to come by good DT's and one that can pass rush like that is something special. He would probably be my 2a. Guess it still dosen't change my vote of Nnamdi tho.

I picked Nmandi in the pool purely as an (pseudo)intellectual pick. In reality I think only Samuels and Briggs see Free Agency, the rest will be tagged. Between those two, it's Briggs all the way. I don't worry about Briggs being a "system" guy at all. I've seen enough of him to feel confident that he's the real deal and will be a monster at MLB.

I think I would rather one of the CBs...Nmandi above all...but it would be MUCH easier for us to draft the top CB (or one of them) than the top DT so, knowing that, I pick Williams.

WR Johnson. Just because I think the Saints will get one of those defensive players. I think he would do great as the #2 WR opposite Colston with Brees throwing to him.
