Resign: Jeff Faine C
soild starting center
David Patten WR
solid veteran receiver
Copper WR
Special teams/WR Depth
Billy Miller TE
A Tight End who made some plays for us in 07
Gramatica K
He came in at the end of the year and didn't miss a kick.
New Deals:

Colston WR We should just get his deal out of the way quickly so we don't have to worry later
Will Smith DE
He has been one of our best defensive players for the last few years

We can resign Evans next offseason

Free Agents:

Boss Bailey LB The Saints are showing interest in injury prone players, so I wouldn't be surprised with this guy who would be an improvement over shanle.
Randy Starks DT a young guy who will help on the Dline A young DT that would
Ty Law CB Will probally be released by Kansas City, he is at the end of his old, but and improvement that will give young CBs time to develop
Josh McCown QB He would be a solid backup for Brees, and he probally wouldn't lose games for us if Brees was injured.
Floyd Womack G With Nesbit leaving, we need to make sure we are covered if our young Oline players are not ready
Corey Williams DT He will bring pressure up the middle and is probally the most important FA we sign.
Alge Crumpler TE I've heard rumors that we have shown some interest in him, this guy made the pro bowl 4 times in his carrer, with Mike Vick as his QB, this guy would give Brees a great target

The Draft:

Round 1: Mike Jenkins CB (other possible picks: McKelvin CB, Phillips FS, Rivers LB) I believe that he is the best option at 10 if we don't get an impact, with Ty Law on the team he will have time to develop and he and Usama will get playing time if McKenzie is still Injured early in the season. I think that Usama Young, and Mike Jenkins could make the Saints one of the NFL's best secondaries in a few years.

Round 2: Curtis Lofton MLB (other possible picks Mayo MLB(if Lofton isn't there), Dan Connor(If he falls out of the frist)) Lofton can come in a instantly start at MLB for our poor defense. He is a playmaker and he can make a lot of tackles, I would love to get this guy, I think he will show us first round talent if we got him.

Round 3: Matt Forte RB (other possible picks: Eddie Royal, DJ Hall, Jermichael Finley, maybe even Frank Okam) I am very worried about the future of Deuce as a football player and as a Saint, so I think that this is the best pick here just in case. I believe that Matt Forte is a special player and I would love to see him in a Saint's Uniform. Deuce is nearing the end of his carrer either because of injury or age, and I think Matt Forte is the right choice for his replacement whenever that may be.

Round 4: Frank Okam DT He is a big guy who would probally play backup for Hollis Thomas until he earns the starting position, If he is still there in the 4th round he is a great pickup for the Saints.

Round 5: Dexter Jackson WR/KR This guy is fast, he is from a small school though (appalachian state), but that hasn't scared Payton in the past. I think he has pretty good hards and can be a great kick returner. Without Henderson we don't have that kind of deep threat anymore as a 3rd or 4th WR. I think that Payton would love this guy, and I would love to have him a Saint as well

Round 6: Dominique Barber FS He is Marion Barber III's brother, I think that he could earn the starting job at FS even as a rookie, I would love to see us choose him in the late rounds of the draft, because he is a playmaker.

Round 7: Angelo Craig DE/OLB He will be a great choice here becuase he has speed to rush the QB, which is something that we need on passing downs to help our DBs. I don't know if he will be a starter any time in the near future but I would love to have someone like him to help with the pass rush. and maybe he will be able to start someday we never know.

Undrafted FA: Jack Ikegwuonu CB We will have to but him on IR, but I think he will make an impact when he comes back and if not we don't really lose anything.

okay u don't think he's going to be there in the first we get it, move on

but otherwise nice mock my man:9:

Nice. You threw a lot of thought into that one. I don't necessarily agree 100%, but you get five gold blocks for quality work there.

Im telling you guys, we are going to regret it if we don't take a linebacker in the first round.

There are 5-6 good corners in the draft:
Jenkins
Leodis
Cromartie
Cason
Taleb
Porter.

There are 3-4 good linebackers:
Rivers
Conner
Lofton
Meyo

IMO, Rivers, Connor, and lofton will each be taken in the 1st round. That leaves 1 guy that we hope 8 others pass on in the draft before we are up at #40. And I am not that high on Meyo at all.

Lets suck it up, take Conner or Lofton in the first round, whether we trade down or stand patt, then we take one of those corners that WILL fall to us at #40.

How many times have 6 CB's been taken in any NFL draft within the first 39 picks?

If you are going to include Cason, Talib and Porter then you should also include Wheeler, Highsmith and Adibi in your LB pool there. Oh, and Mayo is gonna be good, don't worry about him. If we want a CB that we can trust to start in our man coverage this season, it needs to be at #10. The guys that will be there in round 2 are cover 2 CBs. We will be able to get a very good LB in round 2.

I've never heard of Meyo. He must be from the same college as Meechum.

Fine, lets go ahead and follow the foot steps of the Haslett regime and take linebackers in the 3rd round. Works out great.

Im so sick of this. We have the 10th pick in the draft and we can essentially finally get any LB'er we want. If we wait until the #40th pick, some offensive talent will fall to us and Payton is gonna get his pants wet and well...you know the rest.

Im done with my rant.

BTW, I think the top CB in the draft will be taken by the Ravens or Pats.

The problem is that there aren't any AJ Hawks or Jonathan Vilmas or Patrick Willis' in this draft, but there are a bunch of guys that belong in the late first/early second at the LB position. And we wouldn't be drafting some random LB in round 3 who only made it into the first day because he had a good workout, we would still be getting a solid player near the top of round 2.... David Harris style guys, if you will
