I just thought of this. Sign a deal with Atlanta, they trade us Mike Vick, D Hall and their second round pick for the next 2 years. We cut Vick..absorb the 15 million salary cap hit for 2 years(even though we don't have to pay a dime) and get a top flight CB + 2nd rounders out of the deal. I don't know if Vick is tradeable in his suspended state though.

What the heck is this scenario?

The Falcons would not get any financial gain from this. They would only get cap relief. 7.5 million dollars in cap relief for two years. That is nowhere near being worth a starting CB and two 2nd round picks. Terrible deal for them.

WOW, you kinda just brushed upon it like its an after thought, absorb the 15 mil.... ya know then move on.... absorbe the 15 mil!!!!!! thats 80 percent of our cap this year and Hall isn't even good enough to absorb 80 percent of our cap alone standing on both hands doing cartwheels. I would rather and no joke aside sign Nnamdi and give up the 2 first rounders than do this. SIGN MICK VICK, are you serious? And what just sit on him, I mena He could improve our RBs no way I would want him playing QB and we only have 90 running backs on the roster......

know what I just vote no, no more typing...just NO.

It WOULD be the first time in a while that we would hear the phrase, "and the Saints have confused the opposing offense." :mwink:

To be honest I re-read it and confused myself... but I still stand by it!!! I mean this trade ****'s.

Wait hold on, let me recap, and just what do we get again, oh a 15 million dollar cap hit...... Um ya know just a thought but I might try and sign a player with that if i'm GM.... Maybe.

I don't think you understand what I'm getting at. We accept Mike Vick from the Falcons(who owe 30 million of his signing bonus amortized over the remaining 6 years of his contract) and D Hall. Plus some combination of 2nd pick this year and maybe a 4th next year or some mutual agreement. Immediately after the trade, we cut Vick, which charges us 15 million this year and next year to clear the 30 million still owed against his signing bonus. In essence the Falcons would be paying us D Hall and a combination of picks to remove Vick from their team without the cap implications. There is frankly no one left in free agency for us to spend our estimated 30 million on at this point. Benson won't lay down the cash for Asante's blockbuster deal and the Saints have the cap room to do this with ease.

Besides all the crazy talk, thats now how the salary cap works. If we cut Vick we would take zero cap hit. Once he is traded, the Falclown take all the hit. He comes to us with zero signing bonus money left on his contract. Wait, why am I explaining this to someone who knows nothing about American football? You are implying NBA salary rules to the NFL, it just isnt the same dude.

How about Colsotn, or Smith... would rather get Vick sitting in Jail that re-up with either?

Well the point is moot because Vick is untradable.... and We wouldn't be on the hook for any of the Signing Bonus unless we offer the Falcons cash consideration (which you have us doing) Thats thier siging bonus not ours and it will be expected for THEM to pay it even if Vick is traded, that was thier deal with him so why are we offering them any cap relief at all? If he is traded to us, we don;t pay a dime of that signing bonus we pay the base salary Vick would earn (which would be nothing if he is in jail) Also is Hall gonna play for free, what type of deal do you have him getting.

Basicly I see us giving the Falcons a 2nd, saving them from thier Vick troubles, and getting the flashy CB that gets picks but takes to many chances and lets people get behind him for big yds on a consistent basis, who will will have to rework a deal for as well.

Basicly I don't see any reason to help the falcons with ANY of that signing bonus, and if that means no Hall good because he is overrated anyways. Better than what we have, yup, but worth all the trouble you have us going through?

You basicly have us saving the Falcons from terrible past decisions and placing them on us and I can't see why. Wait a second, do they allow computers in jail.... your Mike Vick aren't you... that or Arthur Blanks I just can't figure out which.
