Per Rotoworld:
NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Lions will trade DT Shaun Rogers within the next week.

Trades can't be executed until the free agency period begins on February 29. Schefter says at least four teams have shown strong interest in Rogers, whose skill set compares favorably to both Glenn Dorsey and Sedrick Ellis. Rogers has his ups and downs, but most premier interior linemen do. The Lions should be able to get at least a second-round pick for the 28-year-old.

I like him. We have to get better at DT somehow. Whats his contract situation?

You know to tell you the truth, im affraid of any high price moves for a DT when there is a chance that Dorsey or Ellis falls.

Just a little weary

This is what I found in an article from January:

He has three years left on the six-year, $46 million contract extension he signed before the last game of the 2004 season. His base salary is $5 million in 2008.

Doesn't he have work ethic issues? Not that I would be against a trade for him; Just wondering.

Also, is this guy considered more of a 2-gapper or 3-gapper? I am of the belief that our primary need is at the 3-tech spot.

He does. Also has a lot of trouble staying at his assigned weight.

He's a straight up nose tackle. But when he plays with a motor, he's fast too.

Well technically we need two new DT's. So if this trade did make sense it wouldn't keep us from drafting Ellis or Dorsey.

5 million a year is a heck of alot of money though for a DT.

Rogers and Thomas would be a darn good start.

I agree with Bonchie. Even though it is alot of money it does not keep us from getting Ellis or Dorsey if they fall

Then you draft Dorsey or Ellis too.

I have read somewhere before where he sometimes lazy and has problem with keeping off the weight.

I would trade a 7th rounder that turns into a first if he has 32 sacks and wins defensive MVP. :hihi:

Rogers can't stay on the field. He gets winded way too easily, thats why the Lions want to get rid of him. We already have an overweight DT that can't play every down.
