I think they should have lost their #7 pick instead of the 32.... they cheat and they win.... if I were Goodell I would have taken BOTH!!!!

The number 7 pick wasn't theirs to lose. It was aquired in a trade.

Blame the team that gave them that pick. I hate that team. Stupid 9ers gonna give up their first knowing how many elite prospects were going to be in the draft this season.

why should they lose that pick? taking away the other first rounder was punishment enough. i thought taking away a first rounder was a more severe punishment that what should have taken place

if this was a team like the chiefs or ravens, not many people would be complaining about this. it is mostly because it is the patriots, and people hate them because they WISH their team would be just like them.

The comish could take their draft away if he wanted to....

The number 7 pick was part of a draft day trade so the 49ers could move up to pick an OT. That pick was not given to them by the league as part of their set draft, and it wouldn't be right for the league to take it away.

Plus the commish knows how widespread this was throughout the league so he isn't all up in arms about it.

I am just a little upset that the super bowl runner-up is picking before US!!! and they were CAUGHT CHEATING!!!!!!!!!!1

at the time during the draft, they thought (and so did everyone else) that the certain OT (i think charles spencer from central michigan but i may be way off) was a great value pick for that selection, and thought he would make a sudden impact.

I think the OP is exactly right and have believed the same thing since day 1.

The entire draft is a league-blessed articial construct, and the plenary powers of the commissioner would allow him to take either pick away.

Candy-*** move by a new commissioner.

I look at it the other way. It's a really big problem, there's a lot more there, but he thought the "taking away a first-round draft pick" would sound good enough.

If he had taken away the no. 7 pick, Bob Kraft's life work would have been to have Roger Goodell working on a new career on a lobster boat in about 18 months.

they are picking before us because they were willing to give up a first rounder in the 2007 draft. its not just like the league said, "hey, lets give you a free pick." its just that they were good enough to give up a first rounder in the 07 draft, just like the cowboys were in giving up the #22 to cleveland. these teams are good enough to do this, and still be able to contend. the saints for example, arent.

I agree that the commisioner could have taken away either both or the highest of the two, but I do believe the actual punishment was a second round pick or a first if the Patriots make the playoffs, which puts that pick anywhere in the range of picks 21-53. So I must assume he didn't think it warranted the forfiet of a top 10 pick. I am sure he was aware of the possibility when he passed down the punishment.

So lets recap. I hate the Patriots. It is perfectly legal for me to hire a man to sit on my sideline or in the stands and try and decipher the oppositions signals. Every team does this. It is only illegal to make a tape of it, which Belicheck admitted to doing ever since he became a head coach. Goodell knew all this and did not think it was worthy of taking both first round picks or even the highest one. It really angers me that they have such a high draft pick and will pick a player we will be hoping falls to us, but they have been succesful at building a team and accumalating additional picks. Maybe we should do the same.

They've lost their 1st round. What you're actually ****ed off about is that the Pats have the best F.O. in the League (although to be honest, I'm not sure even they expected to be picking 7th this year). I can understand that, it's natural to feel a certain amount of jealousy when a team does something better than yours, but let's be honest - the Spygate thing is just an excuse people use to bash the Pats. If it wasn't Spygate it'd be Belichick's lack of personality or the fact that Tom Brady is single handedly ***ing his way thru the entire female population of the U.S.

So hate them by all means, but give the spygate thing a rest for a bit.

Not advocating cheating, but seriously... It's done with.

why?

why is this done! you say you dont advocate cheating but what do you call what they did.
i think belicheat should have been suspended indefinately. players are suspended for off the field stuff, so why when a coach is caught cheating he is not suspended. i think what they did is terrible i dont care if everyone is doing it or not, they got caught. everyone is taking steroids in baseball does that make it ok
