Ok So we all know by now that the Jets have made Jonathan Vilma available to talk to any team, other than the Patriots!! hehehe gotta love that, but my questions are this:

How long is it before we sign him?

Will we sign him?

Why Haven't we signed him yet? (j/k) ;)

What would it cost us in trade?

(i say we could get him for a 4th that turns into a 3rd for performance) and that wouldn't even hurt us until next year...i may be way off, but that injury makes his value decrease....

The J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS hasn't made any "demands"... so

If the guy was healthy... he'd be worth a first... but since he's had this injury, and they are pretrty much shoving him out the door... your deal sounds good.. I'd also give them something for this year's draf (4th maybe).

No thanks. Injury prone and major surgery. Pass.

One major injury/surgery does not equal injury prone.

It's all about risk/reward. You know that saying fortune favors the bold? It applies. If the risk (say, a 4th round pick) isn't as bad as the reward (100+ tackles, 3 sacks, 1 int per year, Pro Bowl candidate) is great, you take that chance.

We already know Vilma is a baller. The only risk is his health. And if he's not healthy, the cost isn't back-breaking.

All the Jets want is a third round pick......Thats a steal for Jonathan Vilma. I would do it in a heartbeat!

first of all the guy played every game since they drafted him. injury prone...
secondly frank gore had multiple knee injuries. mcgahee blew his entire knee out in college. cromartie tore his acl in college as well. they all look kinda decent right now.

McGahee
Cromartie
Gore

You need some more examples?

Yeah, but I think Vilma's surgery was micro fracture surgery. It's not like knee ligament damage that has become fairly routine to repair. As I understand it guys with that kind of injury don't always come back.

That being said, I think Vilma is worth the risk for a third round pick, if you can get him to sign a contract extension with a fairly low base salary and larger bonuses for playing time.

A conditional pick...Next years 5th that turns into a 4th with playing 50% of the downs and could go up to a 3rd if he plays in 85% of the downs.

Im sure we wouldn't be the only ones offering him a conditional 3rd.
