Huh? This story has gotten play in many papers and online news sites. Kudos to Foote for stepping up and helping out the family.

This is the first Ive heard of it, but when a player does something bad its impossible NOT to hear about it, so I think the OP has a point.

first i've heard of it as well. bump! good to see a non-sensationalistic story about a football player.

First time i've heard about it maybe they should give him some credit huh? ESPN FOX somebody i mean i doubt he did it for publicity he really was touched good job Foote we're proud of you man

Wow.. I hadn't heard the story either, though I don't usually pay attention to the news. Good for Foote for having such unselfish compassion. And good for him for not calling the media to film his offer. I'm the type that prefers subtlety.

If you look for news, you may have heard about this. Bad news you hear about it whether you're looking for it or not. It didn't get the publicity it should get. It didn't reach the high school kids that need to know that you can be a good guy and a football player.

this is the first ive heard of it aswell...i agree with all points made...not enough credit is given to the right people..although i know in alot of cases they do not want the recognition...

First I've heard of it........and I follow the Steelers. Good for Larry for representin' without looking for credit.

Sometime back in the early-mid 80's a running back for Kansas City named Joe Delaney came upon three boys struggling to stay afloat in a construction pond. It seems they had fallen in while fishing. Delany jumped in immediately and was able to push one boy to safety. Unfortunately, Delany and the other two boys drowned. You see, Joe Delaney couldn't swim......

That story has choked me up for 25 years.

I hadn't heard about it either. Thanks for posting. Kudos to Foote for having the compassion to do this. I guarantee that we would have heard about it if he'd been doing something wrong.

Great point and very true. You do hear the bad whether looking for it or not, it is all over the place. The people that ABSOLUTELY need to hear this are the kids that need to see that you can do good things as an athlete. As BlackReign said, maybe he doesn't want the recognition, which I respect, but the message it can send to the kids and other fans is an important one.
