first, we have too many needs on defense. at 10 we will get one of the players that we are targeting to fill a need AND be the bpa on defense.

second, in order to move up we will have to trade our 1st and 2nd. look at the history of the 41st pick:

2007 chris houston-atl starting cb
2006 duece latui- ari starting g
2005 michael roos- ten gatorade provider
2004 tatum bell- den was their starting rb
2003 ben jopru- ten at least made significant plays for them if he wasn't a starter. i don't know
2002 lamont thompson- cin started for them at cb
2001 robert ferguson- gb started at wr for the packers
2000 raynoch thompson- ari if he didn't start he was a contributor to their team
1999 dre bly- rams he has been a playmaker in the nfl for quite some time

i would say that no, NO, player in this years draft is worthy of bypassing a second player who has a significant chance of starting in our d.

Not many people want to use the 2nd round pick to trade up most are advocating using the 3rd round pick.

Looking at that list I would have to say maybe we should trade up.

A third round pick gets you up to the seventh pick in the draft from the tenth spot according to the chart.

Exactly and either Ellis or Dorsey might be there. I am 100% behind giving up a 3rd rounder to get one of the best DTs in years when it is arguably our biggest need.

No joke. Maybe we should just forfeit the pick if we're going to get players of that caliber, with the exception of Bly. They aren't worth the roster spot.

1 out of the past 9 players picked at 41 would be considered a top-tier player. You've just made a point to trade the pick to move up.

100% agree with you. ellis or dorsey can be absolute anchors for a defensive line for years to come. i honestly would feel a lot more comfortable with ellis over dorsey, if i had to choose one.

To get a sure-fire DT, I would trade the 3rd round pick, no question. We could still pick a LB and CB in the 2nd round.

it's like giving up Andy Alleman for Dorsey/Ellis

my point is this. if we can get a cb in round one, which is where many starting cb's come from. round two, historicaly, is where many good starting lb's come from. we have 2 starters filled in positions of need equally as important as dt. then you have a pick to build your team with in the third. why give the potential of building and solidifying your team for one player at one position. did we learn anything with the j sullivan fiasco?

Wow not many probowlers on that list! Ok I'm convinced TRADE UP
