Im thinking of moving to new orleans and i have a few questions about government grants. I was told you can get a grant to help you out if you plan on buying a house in new orleans, is this so? Also I was told the city is so short on nurses and teachers and what not you can also get a grant if you are one. My wife is a nurse and im curious if this is true. Thanks.

I could be wrong here, but I think the deadline for the grant for nursing/medical professionals has come & gone.

The New Orleans Finance Authority (http://www.financeauthority.org/) was set up for first time homebuyers, but as far as I know they haven't received funding yet.
