I think that the 2008 NFL Draft for us will be very important in the manner that we will have to make a tough choice on either RB, DT, or a LB. You know who the RB is, its Darren McFadden, the DT is Sedrick Ellis, and the possible LB may be Keith Rivers or even a top notch DE like Howie Long's boy. If McFadden is their, Reggie bush be damned take him and have no regrets. Same thing for Dorsey or Ellis. but one factor is that we may have to take a pick on a position that we have no need for help though like RB. Yeah the Defense sucks but McFadden is very tempting to our philosophy of this being a Defensive draft. He brings a lot to he table. and he is very very good.

I think their may be some Saints fans that will not like our pick and maybe not who they would have wanted, but I strongly believe that whoever we get will be good.

I hope its McFadden I really do. He is so good and so much upside its ridiculous on his downsides.

and we may need to get defense in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, but thats the price you pay for the pick you make.

either way we will make a tough choice this April. We will probably miss a future All-Pro in one of our picks but we have to make the best pick that is their.

and when I say BPA ,I really mean the BPA. no more red shirts like Meachem, we need somebody big this draft and that hopefully will help us get back to the top.

If McFadden is there why would we pick him?????

If McFadden is there we trade down

Pd, Mcfadden is maybe the best NFL RB caliber in the draft this season. He looks like Adrian Peterson part deux, thats why you take him. He has too much to him that it would be crazy to pass on him. the Detroit Lions could have taken the guy this past season but didn't and look at what happened to them, still a luckless team without a clue.
If McFadden is not their, Keith rivers or Dorsey would help out fine. I don't mind them at all being on our team, its just McFadden reeks of all-pro honors to me.

I really have the impression with him

We're fine at RB.

Too many other positions that need upgrading.

I would hate to have that much money tied up in one position though. Would you say we should try to deal or cut Deuce. Then we still have Reggie back there making a ton of money. I love the RB position it's one of my favorite to watch but you can only go so far with 2 top ten backs sharing time in the backfield.

You must be crazy are you out of your mind... look what he did agaisnt all the stout defenses he played agaisnt LSU Auburn etc... that is the worst post i have ever seen

The thing is, all of those guys may very well be better 'NFL' backs than McFadden.

Who would have thought at this point, Addai would be a better RB than Bush.

All I saw him do against the Tigers was try to play QB. When he tried to run he got stuffed by 5.0 40 Ali Highsmith of all people.

Stuffed? Not quite.

Darren McFadden rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns, and even threw for another score to lift Arkansas to a 50-48 victory Friday, likely eliminating another team from the national title chase.

Kin, he ran for over 200 yards on the Nation's best Defense and in one of the best games of the year, he beat the future 2008 MNC LSU tigers. this is a case of RB relativism and its silly. How can you ignore what the man did to the best defense in this country?

Hell he beat up on Auburn too and I am a huge Auburn fan mind you.

If he can do what he did to the National champs and thats LSU, don't you think he could do the exact same thing to an NFL Defense. Remember he did this to two of the best run defenses in the SEc and thats Auburn and LSU. He did good to both of us.

I think there are more than one RB worthy of a pick at 10 , but we need to pick a sure thing, 4 year player (finished what he started, not affected by money) not a junior wanting to cash in. Performed at a high level, play maker, that can play through injury, outstanding work ethic that is a team leader, he must have all of these qualities, weather it is Dan Conner, or Mike Jenkins, Glen Dorsey etc, we are investing too much for too many years to Miss on this pick

The more DMC's stock falls and this becomes a reality the more it makes since. With the FA signings and the acquisition of Vilma the FO seems to be preparing in something like this scenario plays out. Our LB core possibly was significantly increased with Vilma and Morgan, if one of them is healthy and back to form we are better than last year, if both of them are back to form we are a lot better than last year at LB. The signing of McCray allows us not to have to draft a pass rushing specialist in the 1st. The signing of Gay allows us not to "reach" for a CB at 10 if the FO doesn't feel that player is worth the 10th pick. Bringing in these vets on Defense allow us to draft the BPA in the 1st, no matter what the position is. There is a chance that Dorsey, Ellis and DRC aren't there when we pick at 10.

If DMC is there you take him. Period. Are we really set at RB? Set the homerism aside and look at the RB position. Yes we have Bush. How many years does Deuce really have left? AS is a good 3rd down back b/c he can do so much, but he's like a jack of all trades master of none and he's not a true go to RB. If he was someone would've signed him to be that. PT is nice and is a good young RB, but really what have we seen from him. When he comes in the games, he's the one with the fresh legs so running people over with fresh legs is nice, but if he was called on to do it for 16 games, could he? People are basing this off of the Bears game and he was probably the only player on the field with fresh legs, so although the went for 100yds rushing/receiving don't let that cloud your vision.

Now look at the DMC pick. What team in the NFL can account for Bush and DMC in the backfield? Not many. They would provide true mismatches.

Although I want defense in the 1st, the FO IMO has made moves to allow the BPA to be drafted no matter what the position.

almost exactly.. BPA for sure.. but if dorsey/ellis is there, he'd be bpa over mcfadden.
and i dont' even watch lsu.
people need to get the the "need" out of head when comes to the draft.. its' BPA period.
bpa may be an offensive player.. but i don't see mcfadden being it unless dorsey/ellis and both longs, being gone. maybe some others.
