what do you saints fans think about the CB brandon flowers out of VT?? i was watchin Path to the Draft and Mayock was all over him..they showed some clips and he looked really physical against the run..maybe thats the kinda attitude we need out of a corner

Thoughs???

I think he is the most complete corner in the draft and we should take him in the 2nd. I've actually seen one mock with Flowers at 10.

I shudder to think about the jokes involving "gay" and "flowers" on this board... pass if for no other reason than to avoid all that cheesiness.

Living in VA I have seen him play frequently, I think his time at the combine was a fluke. That guy plays really fast, but VT also has had a pretty good "D" for the last 8 years or so. They did not look very good against LSU, But came back to win 10 games and the "D" was not getting burned very often, My .02 worth

What is the projected round of cason he kinda fell of the map after his 4.59 forty time at the combine..i mean he was thorpe winner

flowers is in the mold of MM and would be a great saint imo...

just have to worry about his off the field issues, but he's talented for sure

I don't know, but this is a similar thing to Flowers. I read somewhere his 40 time was relatively high, high 4.4s or 4.5 IIRC, at the Combine, but the article also mentioned he was considered the top corner during the season last year. Might have read that off the SR.com front page... hmmm. Anyway, they said he was a great character guy with great skills. Sounded like a winner to me.

Last year around the draft I looked up 2008 mock drafts as I had no idea about college prospects. All 3 or 4 of them had the Saints taking Brandon Flowers. I remember because of his name, I really didn't think there could be two Brandon Flowers.

Not only can Flowers cover well, but he always smacks the life out of RBs who get into his secondary. He plays with a very agressive nature, and if you looked at his game tape you would guess his 40 time was low .3s. He is never afraid to go for the big play if he has the help, something we could do with in our secondary. I wish we could somehow land Dorsey/Ellis in the first then pair Flowers and his partner in big hits Abidi in the 2nd and 3rd. Probably never going to happen though.

Just something to think about and a point that both Mayock and Kiper have made about Flowers...he played boundary corner which means he played on whatever side was closest to the sideline and he rarely had to cover in space. Not saying it's a negative, but it's something to think about.
