What do you think about Reggie Smith? Josh Bullocks for a 3rd round pick? Best TE after Fred Davis? (1 Viewer)

I haven't seen anyone talk about Reggie Smith yet...the Saints could possibly trade down and take him. An extremely athletic and versatile player that could fill the gap at either CB or S. IMO, as a CB he is behind only Leodis McKelvin and Mike Jenkins (based on both current production as well as future potential) and as a S he may actually be better than Kenny Phillips. He doubles as a potential returner and triples as a potential Safety.

What would you guys think about trading Josh Bullocks for a third round pick?

And who do you think is the best TE after Fred Davis? A lot of sites say John Carlson but I don't really think he's all that great.

I'm a true fan of Reggie Smith. I'm a fan of the Sooners (loved to watch Peterson, now Am even more impressed by new RB Demarco Murray), and I will say he is one of the most athletic, and versatile corners in the NCAA. Can play safety or corner, and has grade A ball skills, and is very agile. A great Punt returner as well. I'd be ecited if we added him to our roster. The only guy i'd take before him is DRC. But I really think the Smith will be a star in the NFL. Kinda reminds me of Lito Sheppard.

I take him before Aqib or Jenkins. JMHO.

Yea, I'd take anyone who improves our 2ndary. Sounds like a good player.. and I always advocate the trade down to pick up extra picks....

JB for a 3rd? I don't think he's played well enough to garner that kind of compensation. Our best bet is to keep him and hope he develops into something. At this point I don't think he's got a whole lot of value on the trade market.

i really like that big TE from Tennessee. he didnt get to play much last season, but hes pretty huge. i think his name his brad something.

Brad Cottam. Played well in the Senior Bowl. Would love to sneak him in the 5th. His qb wasn't bad either in the SB. Eric Ainge will be around on day two. Hope we get a shot at him.

Martellus Bennett is the 2nd best TE after Fred Davis. IMO, Reggie Smith will be a huge sleeper in the draft. He does look like he could become a better NFL safety than Kenny Phillips.

1) Martellus Bennett
2) Fred Davis
3) Dustin Keller
4)Brad Cottam
5) Jermichael Finley
6) John Carlson
7) Craiq Stevens
8) Jacob Tamme
9) Kellen Davis
10) Martin Rucker

that is the top 10 TE in order, in my opinion.

If we want Reggie Smith we would have to make sure we pick before San Diego or Green Bay, but I would love to get him. I like Cason better though.

Noone will give us a 3rd round pick for a former 2nd rounder who has grossly underachieved.

I am of the notion that the Saints will be trading Bullocks and Devery either during the draft or before the season. I see the Saints drafting a S in the 2nd or 3rd to help shore up the deep end of the defense, possibly the kid Decoud from Cal. With all the question marks in the 2ndary I cannot see the FO being comfortable going into another season with the same starting safeties. Even though there is no Landry in this draft, he showed what the deep end could look like with a competent FS. Seeing that the Saints play a lot of 1-deep behind their man coverages they really need a better FS, and I actually like Bullocks.

He is just not the 1-deep answer there....

Devery has zero trade value. He was a FA, who didn't get a sniff from anyone, and then signed with us. Why would someone then give up a draft pick for him to play on the same contract they could of just gotten him for in FA? Makes no sense.

Bullocks might garner a late round pick. Maybe a 6th or 7th if a team thinks they see alot of potential in him.

Not necessarily giving up a draft pick straight up for Devery, I'm thinking more along the lines of Devery and a pick or two to switch draft slots. Same with Bullocks. Kinda the same way we traded Stallworth to Philly (Simoneau + draft pick). I just think that the Saints re-signed Devery to possibly leverage that with a pick to move around.

Just because Devery re-signed here for $2m doesn't mean he didn't get offers. Maybe he figured it'd be better to try it here again and try for a better deal next offseason compared to what he was being offered on the market, with a better season of course.
