Raleigh bans garbage disposals (1 Viewer)

Thats right, because a home just isnt a home without maggots and vermin in your trash.

From what I remember...it hurts your tank capacity if you add garabage disposal material to your septic tank. Too much solids causes you to have to have the tank pumped more often. So most people suggest not having a disposal in a septic system.

If your tank is large enough and you treat the tank once or twicw a year with a bio-enzyme it really shouldnt matter much...just try not to put eggshells and coffee grounds down the disposal... they arent "eaten" by the bio-enzyme and fall to the bottom of the tank and become like dirt .. but as far as orange peels and salad scraps ect.. that can be sent to the tank where it will be dissolved by the bacteria...I dont mean to come across as a know it all ... I just did a bunch of research on the subject because my new place in Pa has a septic and I have never had this before...
