Dan Connor reported ran "low 4.5's" at the Penn State pro day yesterday.

What about Bob? Glauber's NFL Blog

Looks like his draft stock is increasing, and with that speed he is projecting very well on the outside.

Might still be a "reach" at 10, however might be a great addition to our LB corps if both of the DT's are off the board at our pick. However, seems his pro day performance has confirmed what I've believed all along, that he is quite undervalued in this draft, projecting mostly mid/low first round.

IMO if we would end up trading down, would be a great pick up. I wouldn't even be upset with his pick at 10.

I dont think we "need" him as much now that we got Vilma....and I'd rather have Rivers to play the outside than Connor...I think we gotta go DT or CB with that 1st pick.

at #10 he would be a complete round to high .... but ok , if you think he is tenth best talent in the class :idunno:

I disagree. When NFLN showed footage of his combine, Mayock made fun of him saying "He has one move to reach the QB". Which was evidently true after watching him do a swim move over and over again. Connors pass coverage was always off, taking the wrong turns and leaving his body in bad position to cover RBS. The only thing he was strong with was his tackling. Can't complain there. All said in done, this would be a reach for 10-20, IMO. You never know whats gonna happen when draft day comes though.

I really, really like Connor. He's a real tackling machine.

I also like Curtis Lofton... I think more than Connor. I think Lofton will make a lot of teams wish they hadn't passed on him.

And as we all know, Mayock is the draft authority to which we all swear here. ;)

6 pass deflections and an interception (and another one in the senior bowl). Rivers hasn't had an interception in 2 years (2 for his career). Connor had 6.5 sacks last year, Rivers had 5.5 his entire college career. Rivers had 4.5 TFL last year, Connor had 15.

I don't get the Rivers love one bit. Connor is very capable at OLB, having played there his first three years in school.

But as many have said, Connor doesn't go to USC, so Musberger doesn't crap his pants every time he makes a tackle.

I think relying on Morgan as the answer is a mistake. Fuji, Vilma, and (sooner or later) Connor at the LB corps would give us another dome patrol for years.

I said a lot of the same things about Puz last year - and prior to breaking his arm in game 3, he was averaging 11 tackles per game in 2007.

Connor > Rivers

Neither are who I'd want at 10 though.

Didn't say he sucked or Rivers was better, just don't think they are either top 10 talent. Probably not even close. But like I said, we will se draft day.

I know, I was responding to you and another previous post both in my comments....:9:

Why are we talking about drafting a LB when we have Dan the Man Morgan?? Where's the love?? This is a Pro Bowl linebacker here! Sure, he's had his fair share of injuries, and yes, maybe he has been hit on the head a few times, and maybe he can't quite remember his own name, or what a football looks like....and so what if he thinks potatoes can talk, this is our future, you know?

IMO, there isn't one LB worth picking in the top 15. The reason I think more people prefer Rivers to Connor is that Rivers has a lot more to work with athletically. Connor is going to be a solid LB in the NFL but he won't ever be a guy who gets you sacks, INTs or forces a lot of fumbles, so he's basically what we had last year. Rivers is a guy who has the ability but it hasn't shown through yet. Like Big Jim Mora used to say...potential means you haven't done anything yet. So either way, I think whoever gets these guys will get a solid, yet unspectacular player who will never live up to a first round billing.
