The Saints may have some time to figure out whether Ryan Ramczyk is in the plan for 2024, but regardless, they shouldn't wait on what happens.

While the future isn't totally spelled out for Saints right tackle Ryan Ramczyk, it certainly is cloudy. With the recent update from Dennis Allen at the NFL's Annual League Meeting, the questions are there for New Orleans and the urgency couldn't be higher.

"I think it still remains to be seen," Allen said. "At the Combine a few weeks ago, I was feeling a lot better about it. And yet, I don't know that I'm seeing as much progress as I was hoping to see at this point. But here's the cool thing, we've got plenty of time. I think we're just going to have to wait and see how that goes as we go through all of the offseason and as we get into the training camp aspect."

Allen and the team said there was a long ways to go until the team takes an actual regular season snap, which is true, but the team can't exactly hope and wait for the best possible outcome, nor should they.

"I think more it has just been visiting with him and he isn't quite where I was probably hoping he'd be, and really quite frankly, where he was hoping he'd be. But again, it's a long time before we kick the ball off. So I wouldn't jump to any conclusions right now, but we'll see how it goes over the next three, four, five, six months before we get to the season." ...

A recap of Dadrion Taylor-Demerson’s pro day

The first ever Big 12 pro day is being held from March 27th to March 31st. Today, defensive backs got their turn and Texas Tech safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson solidified his status as top-ten safety prospect.

The month of March has been very good for Taylor-Demerson. His stock has very quickly risen, with him now projected to go in the late third/early fourth round NFL Draft pick. At the Big 12 combine, he had a 4.39 second short shuttle, seven second three-cone drill, and 18 bench press reps (the best among defensive backs). All of that only builds on his impressive showing at the...

Cameron Jordan had ankle surgery, on track for offseason program

It’s no secret that Cameron Jordan didn’t look like himself in 2023. He played in all 17 games but only bagged two sacks and three tackles for loss, the lowest totals since his rookie season way back in 2011. The New Orleans Saints defensive end underwent offseason surgery to get right. Both Jordan and his coaches blame his poor production on that midseason ankle injury, but head coach Dennis Allen doesn’t expect him to miss any time in spring training while healing up.

“I don’t think it’s going to be anything that’s going to keep him out of the spring,” Allen told reporters at NFL owners...

ESPN’s Matt Miller has Saints taking OT Taliese Fuaga with pick no. 14

To the likely approval of Derek Carr, ESPN’s Matt Miller thinks the New Orleans Saints will be adding another piece to its unstable offensive line.

Miller has the Saints taking Oregon State offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga in the first round with pick 14. Fuaga is the second-best offensive tackle in the draft behind Notre Dame’s Joe Alt, according to PFF.

There may not be a better pass-protector in the draft than 6’6, 334-pound Fuaga. Over his 25 starts at Oregon State, he has only allowed one sack. According to Miller, thanks to Fuaga’s mobility and agility, he could potentially...

Brian Thomas Jr. invited to Saints Local Pro Day

Every year, the New Orleans Saints holds their local pro day. NFL teams hold local pro days to better understand draft prospects. It is also very normal for colleges in proximity to an NFL team to have more invites than out-of-state colleges. This is true with the Saints’ local pro day, with 10 LSU prospects and 5 Tulane prospects being invited. One of the most interesting and exciting invites is LSU wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., per John Hendrix.

Brian Thomas Jr. is one of the top WR prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft, and for the Saints, he could be an amazing draft pick. Obviously, the...

Dennis Allen says Saints aren't finished adding pass catchers, and not just at WR

Could the New Orleans Saints make their offense more multidimensional by adding more pass catchers? Almost certainly. They’re still shorthanded at wide receiver, and they didn’t get enough production out of the tight ends last year. The question is where those new additions might be lining up.

When responding to a question at NFL owners meetings about the addition of veteran wideout Cedrick Wilson Jr. to the receivers room, Saints head coach Dennis Allen shared an interesting nugget on the team’s overall approach to reloading on offense.

“I certainly think that’s something, an area in...

B/R labels Malachi Corley as the perfect fit for Saints WR corps

Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed provide a solid foundation for the New Orleans Saints receiving corps, but confidence thins in that position group after that. A.T. Perry could carve out a bigger role in his second season. Derrik Klassen labels Western Kentucky’s Malachi Corley and his yards after catch as the perfect fit for New Orleans in the NFL draft.

An ability to run after the catch is an attribute the Saints should look to improve from last season, but it doesn’t appear to be the top priority in skill sets to add. The Saints are in the market for a receiver with size. The Saints just...

There’s little question that upgrading the offensive line is the top priority for the New Orleans Saints going into the 2024 NFL draft, but that doesn’t mean it will be the only position group they look to address. And if the cards fall a certain way, they might have little choice but to put out another fire first.

That’s what happened in Mike Tannenbaum’s new mock draft for ESPN. The longtime Miami Dolphins and New York Jets executive shared his thoughts on what may happen in the first 32 picks of this year’s draft, and he sees a future where the Saints pass on their top needs because...

Each year NFL teams are allowed to host a local pro day for prospects who came up nearby in high school or at the college level, and the New Orleans Saints are taking advantage of that to invite some big names to their facility on Friday. A couple dozen players will likely make the trip to Airline Drive, but some high-profile prospects in the 2024 NFL draft are confirmed to be in attendance.

For/Against: Pros and cons to Saints drafting Tulane QB Michael Pratt

  • News source: John Sigler

Smart NFL analysts will say that teams should draft a quarterback every year, until they know they have one they can count on. The New Orleans Saints probably aren’t in the market for a young passer after recommitting to their contract with Derek Carr, locking in his starting role for at least the next year (and probably the next two or three seasons) with a costly restructure earlier this offseason.

Still, you never know. And Carr floundered often enough in 2023 that it’s worth questioning whether the team shouldn’t look for a better backup plan, with one eye on the future, going into the 2024 draft. Enter Tulane quarterback Michael Pratt.

Pratt has led an impressive college career, doing his part to elevate Tulane into a nationally-recognized program while breaking all sorts of school passing records. And now he’s going into the 2024 NFL draft as a favorite prospect of some scouts and coaches who will have the chance to stand on a table for him on draft day.

Should the Saints be interested? What could Pratt offer that they don’t already have? Are the costs to get him too high, given all of their team needs? Let’s break it down while weighing the pros and cons:

Dylan Sanders’ post-free agency 7-round Saints mock draft

The initial big wave of free agency has come and gone, which leaves the NFL draft as the next chance to drastically change your team. The New Orleans Saints sit at an interesting spot with some clear needs in place.

One of the biggest immediate needs that the Saints had could have changed in free agency with the addition of Chase Young. He might not turn out to a long term answer and the Saints could still address the defensive line early in the draft, but it is less of a necessity than it was before. Everything else pretty much stayed the same.

Here's a seven-round mock draft for the Saints, taking the early returns from free agency into consideration:
