His rookie contract paid him for being a first round pick before he ever played a down. Guys like Colston are the guys that get *^*&^* over.
It goes to show that ALL 1st round rookies should be paid equal GUARANTEED 1 year contracts with heavy incentives. Less money is then paid to 2nd rounders then 3rd rounders and so on ending at UDFA's. Years 2-4 should be renegotiated with the drafting team just as RFA's are now with all the same provisions in place for matching offers;transition/franchise tags;compensation etc.
Then after 4 years UFA just like it works at present.
