Woodford Reserve or Maker's Mark?

So would you guys say that Woodford Reserve is a good place for someone to start if they were just looking to get into the bourbon scene? I have never been a big drinker but have had some different bourbons in bars on customer visits that I enjoyed but I never really knew what I was drinking. I just went with what the customer recommended.
