I'll say it again, Pappy Van Winkle's dominates. 20 yr. aged Bourbon Whiskey. $102 per bottle is the best price I've found, and it's worth every penny. The 23 yr. is $364 a bottle. I never tried it, but will one day.
Yeah, I'm with you, but it's not fair to bring into a conversation with the likes of Maker's and Knob Creek. We're talking $25 vs. $100. Another great bottle is Hirsch 16. For a more value minded Van Winkle, don't pass up the Van Winkle Family Reserve 12 Yr Lot B. If you can find it, buy it. One of my favorite bourbons under $50.
I've got a couple bottles of the 23 year old. One is an official bottling, can't remember which off hand. It's very good, but not $230 good. A little heavy handed on the oak/charring. I have another 23 year old that was an unfiltered, single barrel offering bottled for the members over at www.straightbourbon.com. This was available for $150 and is a spectacular whiskey. I've only tasted it twice though as I can't exactly buy more. :)
