BLACKOUT in the Dome (Taking action)
I sent an email to the Saints through the website and my brother sent an email to Jim Smith of the Times Picayune. I am attaching the text to both emails in case some other want to plagiarize some of it and send emails to the Saints or the T-P. Its not too late to get some momentum behind this.
Here's the text of my email:
Hope this gets to the appropriate person. A bunch of fans on the forum at
www.saintsreport.com have been talking about "blacking out" the upcoming playoff game-- getting everyone to wear black. We think this could have a great positive affect on the Saints and create a great experience for the fans. We're hoping that the Saints organization would endorse the idea and get the word out to the media-- either through press conference or by placing local print, radiom and TV ads or a combination of these methods.
Also, it may be a little late, but I think it would be great if the Saints gave away black Saints T-shirts to the first 10, 20, or 40 thousand fans. That could certainly help the cause.
Most Saints fans really believe that this could REALLY be the year that the Saints make it to the Superbowl. A "Black Out" of the dome could certainly make the journey a more inspiring experience.
I will be at the game with my brother and we are already planning on wearing black. Please email me or call me with some feedback.
Thank you

Jimmy,
As a born and bred new orleanean, I enjoy reading your work on nola.com.
Living in new york city, its hard to get news on my saints otherwise.
All of us whodat's have not been able to go 5 minutes today at work without thinking about this week's matchup and possibilities. But here is an unusual, but VERY COOL THOUGHT going around...
The saints have set the standard for the coolest looking uniforms in the NFL with the black on black scheme. Well, IMAGINE every saints fan in the superdome wearing black. In
St. Louis they wore red for their beloved cardinals. In Miami, they wore white for
dwayne wade & co. In seattle this weekend, they wore those stupid neon green gloves.
Lets get new orleans to set the standard once again.
EVERYBODY WEAR BLACK TO THE PLAYOFF GAME.
Lets get a 'BLACKOUT' in the dome.
We need your help to publicize this BLACKOUT. With your column in the TP/nola.com, you can spread the word. With your relationships with the televised sports media in New Orleans, just get them talking about it on tv. Lets make it happen!
This will be the talk of the country.
Please talk about this with your peers in print and TV.
Thank you for your time,
Alphonse
