The great Tommy Myers

I remember two plays in particular. On opening day in 1978, late in the fourth quarter, he intercepted a deflected Francis (as Howard Cosell used to say) Tarkington pass at the Saints 3 (it was 3rd and 7 from the 11) and returned it 97 yards for a touchdown to preserve the upset. (Tark used to make the Saints look silly!) I can still hear Wayne Mack's call in my head. The other was the following year when Tommy knocked out (literally) a Lion receiver coming across the middle. Tommy Myers was a wicked hitter. To top it off, he intercepted Terry Bradshaw in the Pro Bowl to reserve an NFC victory. Ah, happy days.
