Putting the fear of God into the rook and our role Sunday

Consider this an open letter to all the Who Dats out there... while I think it's a good thing overall that we have a rookie starting Sunday there are a few thing to be considered.

Death Valley's roar

People keep acting like Stafford is coming from some DII school and will soil himself in the locker room the second the Dome gets halfway full. It's simply not the case, he has seen the best the SEC has to offer...

THAT SAID... he has never, ever heard how loud 60k+ Who Dats in a Dome can be.

That brings me to...

Noon opener

Now this shouldn't be a problem considering how freaking football staved we all are and judging from the preseason crowds this won't be a problem. The Dome was almost 80% full for a game that they knew our starters weren't even playing most of the game. :hihi: But we as fans are an integral part of the equation Sunday.

Will Stafford deal with the crowd noise ok and not pee his pants? Probably.

But will he be able to audible and run his offense like he dreams about in his pretty new bed? You must be out of you dang mind. I for one plan on being totally horse Sunday night and most of Monday and I expect ya'll to be the same.

Countering the Saints' blitz

As we all know, GW brings the heat. But more importantly he brings the heat in many different ways with stunts, zone blitzes, kamikaze airplanes, led zeppelins, you name it. Why is this important in relation to us being into the game?

BECAUSE IF STAFFORD CAN'T HEAR HIMSELF THINK... well he's sure as hell not going to be able to audible out of a passing play or running play effectively. Sure he might be able to check down or dump to a screen a few times and I'm sure the Lions are game planning for the blitz. But bottom line... you can't do that all game and expect to hang with our offense. Eventually... you have to take your shots down field or at least of the middle. That equates to Schwartz scraping his rook off of the turf.

And we all know how the turf likes it's rookie. :9:

Megatron

Again, it comes back to crowd noise. If CJ can't hear the audibles and/or plays int he huddle, how is he supposed to dominate the game with what you know will be double coverage all over him? We all know that #81 is a beast and a half and I'll expect more than one dragon pass from Stafford that he just prays CJ will come down with and that's ok. He's going to do that all year. But in order to do that, you have to give the WR time to get down field... (see where I'm going with this). Hopefully he doesn't HAVE that time.

In essence all I'm saying is

Wake up early, bring the noise and keep it comin'!

It's up to us to help make sure this kid is BEGGING Schwartz to put Daunte in their second game. :9:
