Why do the Mannings sound like they have a Different accent ??

I don't think so. Usually people have the accent of where they grew up and not just of their parents. I agree with the post- they don't have a New Orleans accent and it doesn't really make sense. Plus, I think they have more of a southern drawl than most newman students.

I never said it was just of their parents/family, although that's a big influence. Its a combination of family and friends that shape a person's accent, its all in the socialization process. It makes perfect sense to me the way they talk, their parents have a Mississippi accent but from them growing up in uptown New Orleans and attending Newman their accent is not going to be as much Mississippi, thus the way they sound. On the other hand they didn't have enough influence of the N.O accent for it to really be significant. I've actually thought about it in the past as I have interest in regional accents and things like this.
