While Pittsburgh struggles to regain championship form, the Saints look serious about making playoff run

Nine months ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers were hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy. The Saints were still searching for assistant coaches.

While Pittsburgh was rolling to its fifth Super Bowl championship, the Saints had barely begun their massive rebuilding project. Twenty-six of their current players weren't on the roster. Quarterback Drew Brees and tailback Reggie Bush hadn't even appeared on the radar screen.

My, how things have changed.

As they prepare to meet Sunday in Pittsburgh, the 6-2 Saints and 2-6 Steelers are the NFL's two biggest surprises through the first half of the 2006 season.
