Was Jesus a socialist?

Dapperdan's view is rather interesting: Jesus' lack of insight/effort into changing the political (and thus economic) landscape of God's creation was a primary reason for the Jewish people in that historical time rejecting Him. They wanted a political king, not a king from heaven.

It is far too easy to forget Jesus' role as saviour of our souls, and wish for Him to have been the saviour of our current condition. The trap there is realizing that salvation isn't about what WE want ... it is about submitting to God's authority.
