How would you feel about drones flying around, checking things out?

OK, but then how is different from police helicopters flying around, checking things out? I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but this has been going on for years. So I don't understand the current outrage.

Well, for one I'm not seeing all that much outrage... merely questioning if this is something we want.

Also, it's just a matter of degree. This is another tool for the state to use -- and that can have good and bad implications. On a practical matter, someone operating a joystick removed from the situation is likely to feel more detached from their actions - so I think that's one area this can be abused.

It's like security cameras on every corner. It can be amazingly practical and very useful for everyone -- it can also be a tool the state can use to start tracking people it deems "dangerous", or "undesirable", etc. It isn't that people think it's likely to start right away, but it isn't that irrational to feel uneasy with a state that can literally see everything.
