The problem that I have with this is that in every case of an officer issued ticket you have the opportunity to face your accuser in a court of law, a basic inalienable right. The system makes court dates available specifically for these challenges.
These cameras offer no such challenges as the courts will typically not hear a case where the cameras are concerned and you're not even offered the opportunity to have a hearing.
The 'violation' is deemed a civil, not criminal, offense. It will not appear on your driving record and the stiffest penalty possible is that the camera operator can report it to the credit reporting agencies.
