Garrett did not hurt his chances to be HC in Dallas.

Garrett certainly didn't help his chances in my eyes either. He made several huge errors -

1. Accepting the penalty on third down, giving Brees another chance. You never give Brees another chance. He made them pay.

2. Garrett's D staff leaving Robert Meachem in single coverage on third and ten. The Cowboys gambled that the Saints would only throw short. Have they never seen Sean Payton coach?

3. Taking his unused timeouts at the end of the game. Bush league, they'd lost there was no reason to prolong the game.

Garrett made some major mistakes, had the Refs not helped him along it would've gotten ugly.

Garrett will be the HC next year but he has alot of learning to do. Jerry will not let him go somewhere else because Garrett is a. smart, b. young, c. good footbal pedigree, d. has a long relationship with him (and his family), e. he has the players prepared, on edge, and playing for him.

Jerry will suffer through a few losses as Garrett learns the HC job before he brings in someone he does not know at this point.

With that said, Garrett's inexperience gave the saints enough to win this game. The play call on the last set of downs was the worse I have seen. With 2 TO and only needing 5-10 yds, he never attacked the middle of the field. He also never gave Bryant a chance to use his height against our DB's. Thank you Garrett!
