Blue print for beating the 2010 Failcons

Hi. Falcons fan here. I don't think the Falcons really pulled out all the stops or anything in week three. That was a pretty standard gameplan for us.

you guys went for it on 4th and 2 twice in the 1st quarter and once in the 2nd.... That's a desperate team who knows they don't have what it takes to win unless they play unconventionally... I'm not saying you weren't good enough to win, but it was obvious that the staff set up a game plan based on you couldn't play toe to toe and win.. You don't pass up three and go for it on 4th down (both conversions were in FG range) if you have confidence you can win without taking risks...

It was a very important game for the Falcons. Both teams have a lot riding on this game despite the fact that both teams will likely finish with the same seeding regardless of the outcome. There's a lot to be gained by winning this one.
I think it's an important game for both as well, you guys need to prove to yourself that you really are the better team and you didn't just catch the Saints before they got over the hangover... the Saints need to win to prove to themselves that they are still the champs..

As for your original post, I don't know what you're talking about with the national media being all over our jocks. The Falcons are pretty much ignored by the national media. And if you jump out to an early 21 point lead, you've got a pretty decent chance at beating anyone.

Agreed, you don't get nearly the pub for a team with your record... No one disrespects you, everyone has flattering things to say but no one goes out of their way to heap praise on you... I think it's like Chicago, people recognized you have a good record but watching the teams play doesn't instill confidence that they can do it every week cuz you simply dont to anything flashy, it's very conservative and nothing dominant about it.

The Saints can beat the Falcons by shutting down Turner and forcing mistakes from Ryan. That's not easy to do though. The Falcons aren't a hard team to figure out, The Falcons are +13 in that category and the Saints are -5.

This is a misleading stat... I've said it several times, looking at the entire season is pointless, look at the last 4 games.. Teams constantly evolve... some get better some get worse or at least they stay about the same but do it differently... No team is the same team they were early in the season... The falcons don't turn the ball over because they play some basic football and don't take a ton of chances... hammer the run in there and play action pass... You've been successful at it... My feeling is the Saints and Phily are the two teams you don't match up well against... You don't play stifling defense and aren't capable of getting into a shootout.. once a good team gets up on you, you're done...
