Is that really how you define his career here? "If only he had cut inside on that one play...."
Please, every dang play you can look at a player and say if only he had done this, you can do that all day, even with the greatest players in the game.
No. I'm not calling Reggie one of the best in the game. I'm just saying that when healthy he helps put points on the board. He helps us win. Anyone who follows this team closely should know what he brings to the table, and defining his career as a saint by "if only he would cut inside more" is just way off.
I can go through a whole litany of plays that "if only" he didn't make we would have lost game, but i feel like no matter what i say there will be certain fans who just don't get it. His contract and status coming out of college have created expectations for the guy that he will never meet. He himself has said that he has not lived up to his expectations, but that in no way discredits what he has done for the team.
I have tried to stay out of the debates because of his contract situation. Theres a possibility he may be in a different uniform next year, but if he leaves, his time here has been about a lot more than "if only". That may be what the writers will say about him because that makes for a great story, but as a true fan of the Saints, his playing career here has been a pleasure to watch, and I hope its not over, but if it is, he should be remembered as a champion.
in 2006 if you would have told me after we picked reggie bush that he would be the leading scorer for our team the next 5 years, and he will score 11 TDs in a season that included a superbowl win, i would have been exstatic. You could argue that we could have picked a better player all you want, but its just so hard to argue with that ring.
