Clayton: Potential cap casualties, all 32 teams Cap situations*

Can someone please explain to me why Philly is rumored to be so interested in Reggie Bush? I don't understand why they would want or need him when they have 2 RBs similar to him already, and Desean Jackson returning punts.

I could honestly see Tampa being the team that gives Reggie an offer he can't refuse... if he does get released.

Because Bush adds more explosion and another dimension to any team he joins. There continues to be an East Coast bias in this league. Dallas doesn't have the money so why not look at teams like the Eagles and Giants even if it doesn't make much sense for the former. They have McCoy and just drafted Dion Lewis. Then again, it might actually make some sense if Andy Reid's desire is to continue to run his offense even if a guy like McCoy were to go down. You can substitute Bush for McCoy or McCoy for Bush and not miss a beat. And Reid still operates a pass-first offense that would highlight the talents of Bush. But beyond that logic, for a lot of individuals in the media, wouldn't it be sweet for the Eagles to land Bush while the Saints give him away. The funny thing, as I stated earlier, is that the Eagles truly do not have that much more to spend than we do. And given some maneuvering, we could have more if needed it. I think the other thing is that some people felt Bush was on the verge of finally putting it together last season after a great postseason showing and then a very solid preseason effort. Then he goes out and gets hurt against the Niners on a freak play. At some point, whether right or wrong, there's the assumption that he'll shake off the injury bug and become the multi-dimensional threat he's shown flashes of being when healthy. What a ratings bonanza, then, it would be if a suddenly healthy Bush goes to the big market in Philly to join up with Michael Vick, Desean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Shady McCoy, and company. I don't think it ought to surprise people that the Eagles have been linked to Bush, Asomougha, Haynesworth, and Ray Edwards, amongst a few others. Fortunately for us, Bush will be in the black and gold and helping the Saints end the Eagles' postseason dreams of a Lombardi sometime in January 2012.

Have to say I never truly understood all the numbers before, but now I have a much better understanding of how it works. Great post.

Thank you!
