Annual SaintsReport Home Game (Edit - Dec.2nd vs. Tampa - OFFICIAL)
Any suggestions on a good place to stay?
I don't want to stay somewhere that is inconvenient or a dive.
We're thinking of flying in on Friday night and leaving Wednesday morning.
Would one need to bring clubs to golf or are they available to rent?
I usually go to hotwire, select 4-Star Downtown (Customer Favorite) and almost always get Intercontinental, the W, or the Sheraton (all very nice). Only it is usually like $79 to $85 plus tax. This year, it is tough to find that deal other than for the Monday night home opener. It shows as $139 plus tax per night for Nov 30th thru Dec. 2. While still a deal considering, not the bargain I was hoping for.
I researched for a while and wasn't finding any bargains until I ended up going to hiltonhonors.com and found a great deal for the Hilton Garden Inn French Quarter (for $79.00 per night plus tax) for Nov 30 thru Dec. 2nd and booked that one. Actually, I took the Evolution room for $89. Very nice hotel in the Quarter.
There is a 3-star in the French Quarter listed on hotwire at $59 per night, but I have no idea which hotel you might get. My guesses based on the regular price of $119 would be either the Prince Conti, Place D Armes or the Hotel St. Marie. You might want to look at tripadvisor.com and check ratings and feedback on these.
There is a 3.5 star French Quarter listed on Hotwire for $116 which is often the Chateau Sonesta which is pretty nice.
There is also a 3-Star downtown at $99 which is often the Pelham which is by the River Walk and Casino.
I don't know what you are looking to spend, but the 4.5 star Downtown listed at $222 is almost always LaPavillon.
The 4 star French Quarter listed at $202 is most often the Hotel Monteleone.
If you want a balcony on Bourbon, Call the Royal Sonesta. Just be prepared to pay big $$ in the $270+ for a side street balcony and higher for a balcony overlooking Bourbon.
I just noticed that at hotels.com you can book the Ritz Carlton for $169 per night and the adjacent Iberville Suites for $109. I haven't stayed in either but they are listed as 4.5 and 4-star hotels and they are both located on Canal right near the entrance to Bourbon. And we are talking about Ritz-Carlton here, so how bad could it be? If you are a AAA member and go to AAA.com, the Iberville Suites hotel (renovated last year) is only $99 per night there.
As for the golf clubs, that's completely up to you. Normally you can rent them, but it's like a box of chocolates... :)
