the VG board football thread

I love me some football, but these studies about ex football player brains are scary. Enjoying watching a human get concussed and break bones for entertainment is a dark road. Roman Colosseum dark. And it's human nature to some extent, but i don't think it's a part of the human nature we need to actively cultivate.

Think about it. We take football injuries for granted. If you got your knee pushed backwards by a car that nudged you at an intersection, you'd be taken away in an ambulance, have surguries, visitors at the hospital with flowers, and likely never walk the same your entire life. Someone has that injury every week in football, and we almost trivialize it because it's so frequent. "Man, another ACL tear. Damn, there goes my fantasy season." Dark road.

Damn, didn't mean to WATS, but that's a scary thought if you think about it.

I agree that helmet to helmet calls need to be adressed, there is no room for hits like the one dunta robinson had in the eagles game last week, here is the play in question from the game last night, and another play from week one. How are you supposed to play any defense at all if the refs are going to make these calls?
