Steve Young's first comments: New Orleans defense is too bad to threaten the Packers.
Yeah, I guess you are right. All that pressure really got to him and forced him to take the easy check downs...
actually, that IS what happened...the defense shut down their run game in the times it mattered. the D played aggressively. any of the giant's TD's were set up by penalties against us. that being said, their TD's never really seemed to be a threat. harper bit HARD (ala seattle) on the TD. ONE absolute, blatant assignment blown...did it matter? NO!
the tackling was good...their were MANY penalties against us called that were BS and some that were NOT called against them (the taunting in endzone)...BUT, those miscalls should NEVER control the outcome of a game. if it comes down to a penalty dictating the W or L, then you were not fully in control of the game to begin with.
we were in control of this game from the beginning. take away the penalties and you have a defense that would have surrendered 10 points.
the offensive game plan, i felt, was great. very balanced and a lot of use of receivers running complementary patterns.
OUR DEFENSE GOT NO PRESSURE? rewatch the game.
also, when did that streak of completions begin...what happened before and after. the defense dictated the offenses production, for the most part...that is what you always hope for.
