the VG board football thread

Yeah, I know and I was really just joking. But, honestly what does it matter what someone wears to a game? Sure, although I am an LSU fan and I wouldn't wear LSU stuff to the game, I don't really see the big deal. Much like Coach can be the head coach of the Saints and wear an LSU hat, a person can go to the game, cheer for the Saints a wear LSU stuff. It's seems like an odd decision to me, but you can be a fan of both and maybe those people were just feeling their LSU pride after a big win against Arkansas. I guess I just don't see the big deal.

I mean, honestly, an argument could be made that Optimus Prime and Master Chief have nothing to do with the Saints so you shouldn't wear those costumes to games even if they are black and gold. You should wear a costume more closely related to the Saints and not some pop culture icon. I disagree with that because I think you can wear what you want and be a fan in any way that you want, but it's the same concept.

normally it doesnt bother me at all. i got fired up because some dickweed LSU fan was arguing with twenny on FB about how LSU is soooo much better than the saints, and it got me thinking about the handful of other dickweeds who chant LSU as we leave the dome after a loss, and the tracksuit guy i mentioned before.

im a fan of both teams, but i dont do that sort of thing when im watching LSU.

as far as my costumes go, that is a solid argument on the surface. the reason i wore Optimus was to signify the transformation from pre-katrina losers to a real elite organization. it was just a hope and dream that first time, but it turned out to be true. the master chief suit was a play on words with the Halo title and religious iconography (and im making sure the Flood doesnt come back, :hihi: ), and coincidentally Halo3 came out the same night we had a MNF game in 2007.

i saw two LSU fans monday night wearing their purple and yellow ape suits with saints jerseys over them. ape suits dont have much to do with the Tigers, but its team colors so its all good (at an LSU game, not saints) theres a purple and gold spiderman, hes cool too.

i think it wouldnt bother me as much if they were loud on D, quiet for our O, and respectful of the team they are there to see. but they usually arent. i'm stereotyping a bit here, but most of the people ive met that sport purple gear at a saints game are the ones who are casual fans, dont really care about whats happening on the field, and are quick to call them Aints when things go sour.
