Bayou Billionaires - New CMT show about Shreveport family

If these shows weren't interesting, they wouldn't be drawing viewers - America can't seem to get enough of Louisiana.

I'm cool with it. We've always known we're a very interesting state and while these people may not be the most polished in the world (we knew that too), they usually do whatever it is they do pretty well and with personality.

All in all, I think it makes Louisiana just look like a different and interesting place. Which it what it is. If somebody wants to draw a negative judgment from it, to hell with 'em. They wouldn't 'get it' in the first place, so what value is their opinion?

:)

I hear you, but it would be nice if there were at least one (1) show from the slew of Louisiana shows that focused on people who didn't have an accent, or missing teeth, etc. Just one that doesn't appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Swamp People is exactly what you describe, I think. But the shrimper show is ridiculous, and the cajun pawn show makes us look like arkansas rednecks. Billy the Exterminator looks like he's out of an eighties time warp when Skid Row was hot, etc.

I dunno mang. I just don't think those shows are representative of the people I bump into around here day to day. I think some producer thinks those people are interesting because they are goofy.

But paraphrasing what you wisely said, what do we care, really. It's not that big a deal. It just feels like a slight misrepresentation, or an amplification of the wingnuttery. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
