Herm Edwards good point!

Don't think it is out of the realm of possibilities that the Payton suspension was a calculated move by him so that he can transition into Dallas as their new coach.

The NFL has so much going on behind the scenes that we, the fans, don't hear about. I wouldn't rule out that on Payton's trip to NY (to meet with Goodell) he proposed a "Harakiri scenario" to the commish where he sits out this year. If the Saints have a great year with an interim coach, Saints fans won't be too upset if the interim coach is retained and Payton walks.

Payton's flirtations with Jerry Jones and Dallas while head coach of the Saints have been fairly obvious, the only down side for Payton would be having Tony Joe Hobert as his QB instead of Drew Brees. We may very well see Payton resign "so that the team can move on", "the healing process to begin" or of course "to spend more time with his family". Anyone who thinks that Sean Payton would rather be a head coach in 'Big D' as opposed to the city that time forgot, is fooling themselves. And it could be even worse: let's say Drew plays a one year deal under the tag and is up for free agency again next year?? Anyone thinks its impossible that both Payton AND Brees could end up in Dallas has not been paying attention to the way today's NFL operates.
