Does Sean Payton do anything to try and clear his name?

Sean Payton has become a scape-goat. The NFL has undertook a witch hunt and Payton has become the face.

My question is this: What does payton do to clear his name?

Defenders and those who want to rationalize the punishment have been quick to point to the "egregious" nature of the system, and more importantly, the intent to cover it up. They have been quick to point to the fact that the staff was told to stop the system; a command that apparently fell upon deaf ears.

But I cannot help but to wonder: If you were a coach participating in an act that you believe was widespread, and helps lead to a competitive disadvantage should you discontinue participation in that act, would you, too, ignore the command to stop?

Jose Canseco's only good point that he ever made was that innocent and rule-following people in baseball fell into the trap of steroid-use simply because steroids led to a competitive advantage and not participating in something that your competitors were, could lose you a spot on the team.

So, again, I will ask the question: What does Payton do to clear his name? Is the desire to earn a paycheck beyond 2012 enough to sacrifice your image for?
