If your assumption came to pass, and we were in the "unlikely" position of playing SF on Dec. 3rd for what amounted to a wild card berth... And if we subsequently lost that game, then we don't deserve to go to the post season this year... JMHO
I hear you, but thats logic I never followed. Chicago lost to Miami at home, would that mean they dont deserve to go?
I'll take the playoffs any way I can get them this year. If we end up tied with SF and they go because they get the wildcard would you really not look back and wish the niners lost to the seahawks?
If you win enough games to get in you "deserve" to go in my book, no matter how you get in.
I really dont find my assumption all that unlikely either. I can see us losing to Cincy and I can see the 49ers beating seattle. Neither outcome would be viewed as some big upset. Its not probable, just very possible.
